Working together to save lives 💛

The Mid West Simon Community and the Ana Liffey Drug Project joined forces through the HSE Circle Programme to support participants with vital knowledge and skills. This initiative focuses on overdose prevention, how to respond in an emergency, and the safe use of naloxone a life-saving medication that can reverse an opioid overdose. Congratulations to all the participants who graduated.

Collaboration like this strengthens our communities, empowers individuals, and ensures more people have the tools to act when it matters most.

💛 We are incredibly grateful to Limerick Musical Society for choosing Mid West Simon Community as their charity partner for this year’s fundraiser.

Their upcoming production of Michael Collins, A Musical Drama at University Concert Hall (March 19th–21st 2026) will help support individuals and families across the Mid West who are experiencing homelessness or housing difficulties.

By supporting LMS, you’re not only celebrating local theatre, but also supporting local families and individuals affected by homelessness.

Every contribution, no matter the size, makes a meaningful difference. We would love to see members of our community take part in the Abseil on March 7th, please get in touch with Limerick Musical Society if you’d like to sign up!

Thank you, LMS, for choosing to support our community together. 💛

2025 in review
At The Mid West Simon Community, we believe in early intervention, supporting people before a crisis turns into homelessness or food poverty. None of this would be possible without our dedicated volunteers and generous donors, whose generosity and dedication makes this possible every day.
This year,
• 5,800 people were supported.
• 45,000 emergency food parcels were distributed across Limerick, Clare, and North Tipperary.

With last night’s freezing temperatures, the Mid West Simon Community stepped in to protect some of the most vulnerable people in our community. We were able to bring 37 individuals in from the cold, 37 people who would have otherwise faced the night sleeping rough. We offered them a warm roof, a hot meal, and the simple comfort of a cup of tea or coffee.
This emergency support was provided on top of our services that are already stretched. Our staff worked tirelessly through the night, showing compassion, strength, and unwavering commitment. But the truth is, moments like this put an enormous strain on our resources.
We are reaching out to the public for help. If you’re able, please consider supporting the work we do, whether through donations, volunteering, or simply sharing our message. Every contribution, no matter the size, helps us continue to be there for those who need us most.
Together, we can make sure no one is left out in the cold. 💛

Today is a very special day for 19 people supported by Mid West Simon Community, as they receive the keys to their new homes in Limerick city.
After spending time in our emergency accommodation, these residents are now beginning a brand new chapter filled with hope, independence, and a fresh start.
Their move also means 19 more people on our waiting list will now have a safe place to stay in our emergency accommodation.
We’re so proud of everyone who made this possible and we wish our new tenants every happiness as they settle into their new homes 🏠💛

Our Annual Fundraising Ball at The Strand on October 11th was truly one to remember.
A huge thank you to everyone who came out, supported, danced, and celebrated with us, we couldn’t have done it without you!
The evening began beautifully with opening jazz by Tea for Two, followed by fantastic music from The Busker and Nigel Dugdale, who kept the atmosphere lively all night long.
Special thanks to our amazing sponsors The Locke Bar & Utility Trust and to every Friend of the Simon Community who contributed, made a donation on the night, or took the time to come and support us.💛
We’re so grateful to John Moran - Mayor of Limerick Candidate for officially opening the event, to our inspiring guest speaker Olivia Beck MSc ANutr, and to our dedicated Board Members and distinguished guests whose support helped make the evening such a success.
None of this would have been possible without the generosity and spirit of our community.

Please take a look through some of the photos from the night and thank you once again for making it so special!
