It’s official. The national press has just broken the story on the massive industrial threat facing our valley, and Oscar-nominated director Jim Sheridan has stepped up to stand with the people of Inistioge.
Having filmed The Secret Scripture here, Sheridan knows first-hand what is at stake. Imposing 175-metre industrial turbines onto our untouched skyline won’t just ruin the views, it will permanently kill Inistioge’s multi-million-euro filming and tourism economy.

Film location manager Gary Cahillane also said "Inistioge is always top of the list if you're looking for a quaint village, it really is one of the few remaining villages that's maintained that quaint character and old world charm"

Industry data from 2026 proves that forcing heavy industrial wind farms onto scenic ridges triggers an immediate 20% drop in rural tourism, threatening our local filming economy, businesses and guest houses.

Despite the horrific weather last night, the community spirit in the hall was completely unshakeable! To everyone who packed out the room, joined us live on Zoom, donated to our Planner Fund, and took home our Community Objection Packs, THANK YOU. Inistioge showed its true colours last night, and we stand completely unified. 🤝

But last night wasn’t just about fighting a bad development. It was about launching an extraordinary, historic vision for our home.

🌟 THE BIG NEWS: THE NATIVE WOODLANDS PROJECT 🌿

Last night, we officially revealed our alternative strategy, and it is a complete game-changer. Under the EU Nature Restoration Law and the government’s newly released expert recommendations, a massive €700 million annual fund has been established to restore Ireland's environment.

Out of the entire country, an expert independent panel selected just 14 key locations as the ultimate candidates for the first phase of the National Native Woodlands Project.

The Woodstock Estate and our surrounding forestry lands are named as one of those final locations! 🌳 ✨

🏛️ THE THREE PILLARS OF SUSTAINABILITY
Regardless of the turbines, this is the single largest environmental investment opportunity in the history of the state, and we are at the very front of the queue. This is our chance to position Inistioge as a true, world-class ecological region, built on three bulletproof pillars:
• 🟢 ENVIRONMENTAL: Massive habitat creation, flood defenses, carbon capture, and a permanent wildlife shield.
• 🔵 SOCIAL: Exceptional public health benefits, education, and permanent protection for our family homes and vital private water wells.
• 🟤 ECONOMIC: Ecotourism, sustainable local job creation, and incredible new opportunities for independent businesses across Inistioge.
