New study confirms the economic effects on communities close to windfarms!

🚨 COMMUNITY ALERT: NO BLANK CHEQUES FOR INISTIOGE

⚠️ What is happening?
Empower Renewables has quietly lodged a "Design Flexibility" request (Case VO10.323633) with the planning board regarding their proposed Curraghmore Windfarm grid connection.

⚠️ What does "Design Flexibility" actually mean?
They are asking for a blank cheque. They want the board to approve their industrial grid layout without showing the public the exact routes, cable trenches, or precise environmental impacts first.

⚠️ Why are they doing this now?
To insulate themselves from future legal challenges. By splitting the grid framework into a separate pre-application trick, they are trying to bypass the strict EU environmental laws that protect our valley.

⚠️ What is the risk?
Hidden grid infrastructure cutting through local lands. No definitive environmental accountability. A dangerous precedent of "approve now, detail later" overlooking the Nore Valley.

❗ We demand total transparency, not open-ended promises.

🚨 575-FOOT TURBINES VS. INISTIOGE

What an incredible day at the 32nd Inistioge Vintage Rally! 🚜💚

Our Protect Inistioge's Environment stall was buzzing with amazing community support.

While the kids loved our fun games and admired the stained glass donations, we were there for a vital cause:
Fundraising and spreading the word about the proposed Mega-windfarm development.

Take a look at the video reel. Our drone footage captures the breathtaking scenery of our historic, archaeologically important area. This view will be long gone if this project goes ahead.

The consensus from locals and visitors from other counties was loud and clear: Too big, and too close to a heritage area, also densely populated.

🚫 Ireland's current distance setback buffers from homes are 20 years old. They were never designed for 2026 mega-turbines.

Thank you to everyone who supported our fundraising efforts today. Our community, our heritage, and our landscape are worth fighting for.

River Stories & Fisher Fables, Traditional Knowledge of the Nore

“Never take the first salmon home - the river remembers.” 🎣🌊

Across generations, Small fisher rules and fables once governed life on the Nore: “Don’t take the first salmon,” “Leave the ford to the old men,” “don’t cut alder roots” - "Leave certain pools" - "Avoid netting at the full moon"

These everyday practices were practical conservation, passed down by elders, taught to children, and they kept the river healthy.
These fables and customs acted as community stewardship: protecting spawning pools, stabilising banks, and limiting pressure on fish stocks. They’re a form of traditional ecological knowledge and an important strand of Inistioge’s heritage.

👉If you know a fisher’s rule or a river memory, let us know!
Let’s celebrate and record the river knowledge that shapes our local identity.

Protect our river Nore valley!

🎥 More filming in Inistioge village!

That very spot will look very different in the future if the Mega windfarm gets permission.

🚫 No more future filming, the economical impact from the loss of this industry and tourism will be devastating for this small and beautiful village.

Is Ireland’s electric grid on the brink of failure? ⚡️

In a shocking new analysis, independent expert Andrew Murray uses official data to expose the dangerous reality of our energy network:

⚠️ The Grid is Fragile:
Over 50% of our transformers are more than 50 years old.
🛑 Dangerous Limits:
Winter demand is already pushing the grid to its absolute safe limit.
💨 The Wind Gamble:
Why massive wind power policies are a poor, expensive fit for a fragile grid.

Andrew brings a strict scientific and engineering background to cut through the political noise. Discover why our current energy policies are unworkable, and what we actually need to do to keep the lights on.
