Youth Information were out and about with youth clubs over the last two weeks. Members of Johnstown Youth Club enjoyed an evening of team challenges, games and a Mummy Halloween Race to finish off the evening. Rathdowney Youth Club had a unique experience last night of Glow in the Dark Dodgeball!! The group tried out all the new neon sports kit which was kindly given to Ossory Youth by Kilkenny Recreation & Sports Partnership as part of the Her Moves Initiative

The girls had their last boxercise class this week and got to practice their new skills in the ring. Many thanks to Pat & Orla from Urlingford Boxing Club for training the group. We will be back again! We move onto Bokwa Dance classes after the Halloween Break. Another strand of the project commenced on Thursday evening as part of an after schools programme, incorporating Gym sessions and Social Basketball in Johnstown. These activities are funded through Healthy Ireland Kilkenny and facilitated through the new UBU youth project in Urlingford & Johnstown with support from the Youth Information Centre. During November, we will also be running Social Dance Classes for 18-24 years old. If you wish to join or find out more information, please contact Ileana on 087 4289861 or Jacinta on 087 8876366

13 young adults aged between 17 and 24 years old participated in a 1-day training course in St Mary’s Hall in Johnstown last week, as part of an initiative delivered through the UBU Youth Project in Urlingford/Johnstown in collaboration with the Youth Information Centre. They received their Food Safety Certs together with their Barista Training Cert. The training was facilitated by the Irish Barista Academy and many thanks to Sharon and Camila for providing this valuable training. This programme was offered to enhance their employability, offer opportunities to volunteer in their local community and to promote engagement in the youth project for young adults. If you are aged between 17-24 and living in the Urlingford/Johnstown area and would like to find out about more programmes on offer, please contact Ileana on 087-4299861 or Ellie on 087-4294360 or Jacinta on 087-8876366 for more information

🥾 The Thursday Girls Take on Croagh Patrick! ⛰️

Over the weekend, the Thursday Girls took on the challenge of climbing Croagh Patrick.

The weather wasn’t exactly on our side, but that didn’t stop them! Through plenty of wind, rain and tired legs, they supported and encouraged each other and made it to the top. 💪

For some of the girls, the climb had a very special meaning, with a few choosing to walk it barefoot in memory of loved ones. ❤️

It was a tough challenge, but one they took on together, and fair to say, a few memories were made along the way!

A big well done to all the girls, and a huge thank you to everyone who makes weekends like this possible. 💚

Youth work doesn’t stop when Thursday night ends! 😉⛰️
