The National Poisons Information Centre (NPIC) reported 11,455 enquiries last year.

Household products mostly involved liquid detergent capsules, dishwasher tablets and toys.

The centre is based at Beaumont Hospital in Dublin and advises nationally on how to deal with suspected poisonings. The public information helpline for the centre is 01-8092166 and it operates 8am - 10pm, 365 days a year.

As we approach 21 years of Community First Response in Ireland and our 12th year of Respond, at Respond2026, we hope we have provided something for all levels of and more. Something for experienced CFRs, new CFR schemes, emerging CFR schemes and everyone interested or committed to increasing OHCA Survival. We hear current updates, we learn of the plans to improve OHCA survival, we hear from experts, we have numerous CFR related workshops our biggest selection ever this year,. Many thanks to our premier sponsor Aid Supplies and all our all Traders attending, there will be many bargains and special offers for Delegates. Many people enjoy warm weather, but heatwaves can cause heat exhaustion and heatstroke in the elderly, young children, and other vulnerable groups.

Who is most at risk?

Heatwaves can affect any of us, but those most at risk include:

babies and young children
people over 65
people with underlying health conditions including problems with breathing, heart, kidneys and diabetes
people with Alzheimer’s and dementia
people who spend a lot of time outside or in hot places (such as those who work outdoors or the homeless)

Keep out of the sun at the hottest time of the day, from 11am-3pm. Close windows and curtains during the day and reopen them at night when the temperature drops. Drink plenty of fluids.
