Dundalk Dog Rescue

Dundalk Dog Rescue Dundalk Dog Rescue is an entirely voluntary, non-profit making service provided by a group of ordina Dogs end up at the pound for a number of reasons.

To save the lives of dogs on the ” put to sleep” lists in pounds, to help rehabilitate and rehome them, and to promote responsible dog ownership. A stray dog in the pound has 5 days to be reclaimed or re-homed (Control of Dogs Act, 1986). A dog surrendered by it’s owners may be euthanised immediately. Louth County Council does it’s best to rehome dogs but unfortunately due to the sheer volume of d

ogs entering the pound many dogs are listed for euthanasia to accommodate new arrivals. These are dogs that DDR rescue and take into our care. The official Dept. of the Environmental Dog Control Figures shows that Louth now has one of the lowest destruction rate in Ireland. This figure was over 75% prior to DDR being founded. We rely heavily on people to help us by fostering our dogs until the next stage of their journey begins. If we cannot find a fosterer the dog will stay at our new Centre in Dromiskin. The rescue runs up huge costs each month, with most of our funds being used for food, transport and vet bills. Monetary Donations are also supplemented by a DAFM Animal Welfare Grant Award. The most recent grant was received at the end of 2025.

Family always comes first. But what if your love could stretch just a little further? 🐾❤️

Most people write a Will to ensure their family and friends are looked after. Once your loved ones are secure, would you consider remembering Dundalk Dog Rescue?

A legacy gift in your Will costs nothing today, but it ensures that we can keep our gates open and continue rescuing, rehabilitating, and rehoming dogs.

Your love for dogs can be your lasting legacy.

🐾 If you would ever like to consider including DDR in your wishes, a conversation with your solicitor is all it takes.

Every single gift, no matter the size, saves lives.

🐾 Beau – Still Waiting for His Forever Family 🧡🏠

Beau is now entering his seventh month in our care, patiently hoping for his second chance at a forever home. At 9 years old, he’s at that perfect stage of life where he can offer calm, steady companionship to the right family.

Over the past few months, Beau has been thriving in his foster home. His foster family has given him the stability he needed to enjoy daily walks, settle into a home routine, and rediscover what it feels like to be safe. And Beau has truly been the best boy.

Beau’s ideal home would be in a country or rural setting, with someone who can offer company throughout the day. More than anything, he wants to feel secure, loved, and part of a family again.

If you have room in your heart and home for a gentle soul who just wants to belong, Beau may be the one.

🐾✨ Stewie — Young at Heart & Ready for His Forever Home ✨🐾

This super little guy continues to be the perfect guest in his foster home. Stewie gets along brilliantly with visiting dogs and could happily play fetch with his favourite ball all day long.

We’re currently reviewing applications for Stewie, and he truly deserves only the very best. He’s looking for a home where he’ll have undivided attention, plenty of love, and all the home comforts he’s missed out on.

Stewie may be 9 years old, but he is absolutely young at heart. Full of fun, affection, and loyalty, he will make the most wonderful addition to the right family.

If you think Stewie could be your perfect match, we’d love to hear from you 💛🐶

Missy Update 🩷

It’s amazing how quickly things fall into place. In just a few days, Missy has slipped into her new family's lives like she’s always belonged.

Resident pupster, Harry, has welcomed her with the happiest, gentlest heart.

Yogi gets adopted 🩵🧡

Some little souls walk into your life and change everything — and Yogi has done exactly that. From the moment he arrived, he’s brought so much joy, laughter, and love into their home. Everyone who meets him falls for him instantly. He’s just that kind of dog 🥰

Yogi has settled in beautifully. A tiny bit of digging in the garden here and there, young dogs love to show off their skills 🙈… However, nothing compares to the happiness he’s brought with him. He’s such a good boy 😇

His walks are still a work in progress, but every week his family see him growing, learning, and trusting a little more. Some days he passes people without a care in the world, and other days he’s bursting with excitement and wants to greet everyone like they’re long‑lost friends. He just wants to play with the whole world.

Yogi's family are so proud of how far he’s come and how hard he’s trying 🤩

In his family's own words - "We’re so lucky he found his way to us. He’s part of the family now — and we couldn’t imagine life without him."

We were delighted to welcome Yogi and his family back at the Center over the weekend, where they signed over his adoption paperwork.

On behalf of all the team at DDR, we wish to thank them for adopting a DDR dog and for being patient with our process 🫶🧡

Tara celebrates her 5th Gotcha Day ❤️

We’ve just received the most beautiful update about our former DDR girl, Tara — a pup who has spent the last five years filling her family’s life in Sweden with joy, laughter, and the kind of love only a rescue dog can give.

From her very first day home, Tara has embraced every adventure with her whole heart. Five years later, she’s still living life at full speed — exploring, learning, loving, and reminding everyone around her just how special a second chance can be.

And now, with the impending arrival of her brand‑new little sibling, a whole new chapter begins. New memories to make. New moments to treasure. New adventures waiting just around the corner.

Keep shining, sweet Tara. Keep loving big. We already know you’re going to be the most gentle, patient, wonderful big sister — because that’s exactly who you’ve always been.
