Today we offer up our rosary for the late Gerry O'Reilly.

Gerry passed away a few days ago while out for a cycle in New York.

Gerry represented his town, county and country in athletics, none less than the Soeul Olympics. A family and community man. We remember Gerry in a special way, his late mother Marian, his dad Larry, his sisters, brothers, family, friends.

May God level the road for Gerry's soul and let perperual light shine upon him. May he rest in peace. Amen

Ar dheis Dé go raibh a anam.

Today, 13th June is the feast day of St Anthony. One of Ireland's most beloved saints. A prayer repeated regularly in homes is....

*St Anthony, St Anthony, please come down, something is lost and can't be found.*

As the prayer suggests he is the patron saint of those who lost things.

Some people would offer money to a poorbox in thanksgiving if he found the lost item. This is also known as St Anthony's bread.

It is easy recognise his statue as he is often depicted holding the baby Jesus in his arms and/ or holding a lily.

Happy Feast Day St Anthony.

Today we came together to celebrate Corpus Christi. We had a wonderful turnout in our parish and prayed together for peace.

The Corpus Christi procession is a very old tradition dating back to the 13th century. Along the procession route, people would stop and pray at different altars. In many rural communities, prayers were offered for farmers, fishermen, and fine weather.

Today, we followed in the footsteps of our ancestors. We give thanks for the faith they passed down to us, for the care they showed for the environment, for the value they placed on family and community, and above all for their deep love of the Eucharist.

*Invitation to Our Corpus Christi Celebration & Procession
*
Dear Friends,

As our parish prepares to celebrate Corpus Christi, we warmly invite everyone in our community to join us for this special day of prayer, friendship, and togetherness.

We extend a particular welcome to our Friends of the Elderly Group, our migrant and newcomer communities, our neighbours, families, and friends. Whether you are a regular member of the parish, belong to another faith tradition, or have no faith background, you are most welcome to be part of this joyful occasion.

As we walk together and pray for peace, we celebrate the values that unite us: community, hope, kindness, and care for one another. It has been many years since we have had the opportunity to celebrate Corpus Christi with a parish procession, and we would be delighted to share this special day with you.

10:00am – Gather at the Old School.

10:30am – Corpus Christi Procession.

11:30am – Mass.

Tomorrow we will have our Parish Procession for Peace & Corpus Christi Sunday.

Join us this Sunday, 7th June, for our special Parish Procession for Peace and Corpus Christi celebration – a joyful morning of prayer, community, and celebration.

Led by the Children’s Rosary Group, the procession will begin at the Old School at approximately 10:30am. Together, we will walk through the park and past the library before making our way to the church.

Musicians will accompany us along the route, helping to make this a festive and memorable occasion for all.

The procession will be followed by Mass at 11:30am, and afterwards everyone is invited back to the Old School to enjoy refreshments, treats, and ice cream.

Children who have received the Sacrament of First Holy Communion are warmly encouraged to wear their Communion dresses or suits. They will also have the opportunity to throw rose petals or carry balloons during the procession, making it a particularly special experience for them.

We would love to see as many parishioners, families, and friends as possible join us for this wonderful celebration.

Thank you, as always, for your support, and we look forward to sharing this joyful day with you.
