Preparing for Life

Preparing for Life Improving children’s lives by supporting parents and others who work with children to use proven approaches to help children achieve their full potential.

Preparing for Life is a prevention and early intervention project based in north Dublin. We work to improve children’s lives by supporting parents, early years practitioners and teachers to use proven approaches to help children achieve their full potential. We work with families, health services, pre-schools and schools from pregnancy through childhood.

Calling all families with a child starting school this year - pop down to your local library to pick up your child's free Little Library Book Bag.
Coolock Library Dublin City Libraries Donaghmede Library

We have a FREE My Little Library Bag for every child starting junior infants in 2026 to help them prepare for this big step.

Children and their parents or guardians can collect the bags at any library throughout the country. There is a choice between a bag as Gaeilge or a bag in English.

We can’t wait to welcome all the children starting school this year to collect their book bag and begin their library membership journey.

We hope that once they visit the library to pick up their book bag, our new library members and their families will come back regularly to borrow books and to take part in story times, workshops and all the other events we have to offer at the library.
