LEARNING THROUGH EXPERIENCE

Our Berlin study visit was about much more than seeing the sights.

As part of the Cross Border Youth Leadership Project, young people from Louth Comhairle na nÓg and Newry, Mourne and Down Youth Council came together to explore the impact of conflict on Berlin and learn about the city's history and its journey since reunification.

During the visit, the group had the opportunity to:

🧱 Explore the Berlin Bunkers and learn about attempts to cross the Berlin Wall

🕯️ Visit Sachsenhausen Memorial and Museum

🏛️ Visit the Topography of Terror and learn about Berlin during the N**i period

🇩🇪 Visit the Reichstag and its famous glass dome

🏙️ Take part in a guided tour of Berlin

🌳 Explore Potsdam

Alongside the history and learning, the trip was also a great opportunity for young people from both sides of the border to meet, build friendships, share experiences and develop their confidence and leadership skills. 🙌

A huge thank you to everyone who helped make the trip possible and to all the young people who made the most of the experience! 💙

The Cross Border Youth Leadership Project is funded by the Peace Plus Programme and supported by the SEUPB.

🇩🇪 COMHAIRLE NA NÓG IN BERLIN! ✈️

Our Comhairle na nÓg young people recently headed to Berlin as part of the Cross Border Youth Leadership Project! 🇩🇪

Over four days, young people from Louth Comhairle na nÓg and Newry, Mourne and Down Youth Council came together for a study visit, exploring Berlin, learning about its history and experiencing the city together. 🙌

From exploring the city and visiting historic sites to making new memories along the way, it was an experience our young people won’t forget! 💙

💙 WORLD MENTAL HEALTH DAY 🌍

Today is a reminder that our mental health matters just as much as our physical health.

Life can be stressful sometimes, especially with school, friendships, family and everything else going on. It’s important to take time for yourself, check in with how you’re feeling and remember that you don’t have to deal with everything on your own.

Whether it’s talking to someone you trust, spending time doing something you enjoy or reaching out for support, even small steps can make a difference.

💬 Check in with your friends
💙 Be kind to yourself and others
🗣 Remember, asking for help is a strength, not a weakness

At Boomerang, we want every young person to feel supported, included and comfortable being themselves.

📲 Check out our slides for some helpful tips and details of services available if you or someone you know needs support.

You’re not alone, and there’s always someone you can talk to. 💙🌍

❤️ LIFE-SAVING SKILLS AT BOOMERANG ❤️

This week, our Comhairle na nÓg group had the opportunity to take part in a CPR and defibrillator demonstration with the East Meath Defibrillator Unit.

It was a brilliant session, with our young people getting hands-on, learning about what to do in an emergency and building the confidence to know how they could help someone in need. 🙌

There was great engagement throughout the session, with plenty of questions, participation and a real willingness to learn. 👏

A huge thank you to the East Meath & Louth Defibrillator Unit for taking the time to visit us, share their knowledge and teach our young people these important life-saving skills. ❤️

A special thank you to Karen, Anthony and Daniel for delivering such an informative and engaging session. We really appreciate you taking the time to visit Boomerang and work with our young people! 👏❤️
