๐Ÿ“ข Advocating for Family Carers in Kilkenny

Family Carers Ireland Community Support Managers Richie Molloy and Danielle Dunne recently attended a public meeting on disability issues in Kilkenny, where they presented the Family Carers Ireland State of Caring Report 2026 to Senator Patricia Stephenson and Deputy Liam Quaide of the Social Democrats.

The State of Caring Report highlights the experiences of family carers across Ireland, shining a light on the challenges they face every day while also identifying the supports and policy changes needed to improve their lives.

Family Carers Ireland is committed to ensuring that the voices of family carers are heard by elected representatives and decision-makers, helping to shape policies that recognise, value and support the vital role family carers play in our communities.

Thank you to Senator Patricia Stephenson and Deputy Liam Quaide for taking the time to meet with our team and discuss the issues affecting family carers.

Together, we can continue to advocate for meaningful change so that no one should have to care alone. ๐Ÿ’™

Introducing Lรบ, Family Carers Irelandโ€™s mascot ๐Ÿคฉ!!

A massive thank you to our community for being a part of the naming process. After the final poll, Lรบ came out on top of the other amazing name suggestions! Lรบ is the Irish god for the sun or light, which makes it quite fitting as our little heart will be shining a light on the backbone of care in our community: family carers.

Watch this space to see where Lรบ's adventures will take him during this monthโ€™s Heart of Gold campaign!

You can now show your support for family carers by visiting your local Lidl store and purchasing your Heart of Gold pin in the month of June. When you wear the pin, you are letting your community know that you support family carers ๐Ÿ’›
