Struggling to keep up with bills?

It often starts small. A missed payment, a delayed bill, or a month that didn’t go to plan. But over time, it can build into calls, letters, and increasing pressure.

It’s easy to feel overwhelmed or unsure where to start, and many people try to ignore it, hoping it will resolve itself. But that can make things harder.

MABS can help you understand what you owe, see what you can afford, and make a plan that works for you. If needed, we can also speak to creditors on your behalf.

Today marks the start of Kinship Care Ireland Week 2026.

Across Ireland, thousands of children are being raised by grandparents, relatives and close family friends who have stepped in to provide care, stability and support. Kinship care helps children stay connected to their family, community and identity.

Taking on the care of a child can also bring unexpected financial pressures, from everyday household costs to navigating entitlements and services.

At MABS, we know that money worries can affect anyone. If you're a kinship carer and you're struggling to make ends meet, worried about bills, or unsure what financial supports may be available, we're here to help.

MABS offers free, confidential and independent support to help people work through financial challenges and understand their options.

Think you need to make big changes to improve your finances?
It doesn’t always work that way. Small changes can add up over time, often more than you expect.

Things like bringing lunch from home, reviewing subscriptions, or planning your shopping might feel small, but over weeks and months they can make a real difference.

You don’t need to change everything at once. Starting with one or two small steps can help you build habits, feel more in control, and keep going.
