Our CEO Craig was way out West recently 🧭

Although the weather may still be nice during the day, darker evenings and changing conditions are on the way as we head towards winter time.

We would ask all members of our wonderful community in Carrick on Suir and the surrounding areas who might be out walking or driving, to take extra care. Wear something reflective, make sure you can be seen, slow down on the roads and watch out for pedestrians and cyclists 🦺

Enjoy the Halloween festivities, stay safe and look out for one another and most importantly, please respect our emergency services 👻🎃

It is important to check AEDs (defibrillators) regularly and especially after the recent run of cold weather over the past couple of days.

AED batteries 🔋⚡ drain more quickly in colder temperatures 🥶❄ and in some cases - the water-based gel found in some AED pads may freeze under extreme conditions. If you are like us and carry an AED in your car or work van, bring it in at night to ensure it remains ready for use.

❤️ Today is Restart a Heart Day! ❤️

Every minute matters when someone experiences an out-of-hospital cardiac arrest.

Starting CPR quickly can help keep blood flowing around the body until emergency services arrive and improve a person’s chance of survival dramatically.

There is remarkably encouraging progress here in Ireland. According to the latest OHCAR Report, the rate of bystander CPR in out-of-hospital cardiac arrests increased from 60% in 2012 to 85% in 2025.

You do not need to be a healthcare professional to save a life. Learning CPR and knowing how to use an AED could help you make a life-saving difference to someone in your community.

Read the latest OHCAR Annual Report here: https://about.hse.ie/publications/out-of-hospital-cardiac-arrest-register-ohcar-annual-report-2025/ 📖

We’ll be continuing that message tomorrow at SuperValu Carrick-on-Suir from 10am–1pm, where we are delighted to be joining our colleagues from Tipperary Fire & Rescue Service.

🚒 Tipperary Fire & Rescue Service will be promoting Fire Safety Week, while our team will be providing CPR and AED awareness as part of Restart a Heart Day.

Two different services but one shared purpose - helping to keep our community safe and giving people the knowledge and skills to act when it matters most.

Come over and learn something that could one day save a life.

Showing on RTE at the moment is Counter Attack 📺

This covers a story where Frank, a gentleman from County Cork suffered an Out of Hospital Cardiac Arrest. Frank was successfully resuscitated proving that the Chain of Survival works. Our former National Ambulance Service (NAS) Community Engagement Officer Pat McCarthy was involved with this call.

The science and story behind this case is especially important with Restart A Heart Day taking place later this week.

Well done to Pat and all involved 👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽

Critical - Emergency Medical Response

09/10/2026

At the end of September, we had 361 active Community First Responder (CFR) groups across the country, up from 344 at the same time last year.

That growth reflects the continued commitment of volunteers who give their time to support their local communities and provide vital assistance while an ambulance is on the way.

Is mór againn an obair a dhéanann ár CFRs ar fud na tíre, go raibh maith agaibh go léir. 💚
