With the rain hammering the windows, its a brief reminder how lucky we got with the weather last night. But then the man up above always seems to give us a gentle nod, a window of "dryness" to allow us put on the ultimate show on wheels.
12 years in and this year was put simply, perfect. Tractors travelled from all around, all ages, young and old. Hours spent wrestling with lights, tape not sticking, cable ties too short, batteries wrong size, inflatable Santa's deflating faster than inflating, we've been through it all.
And yet, throughout the madness, we get it done. Somehow. There's always a way.
In no particular order, the following deserve an extra box of Quality Street under the tree this Christmas.
The 2 girls in Explore Carrick, Sarah Jane Cleary and KM Ní Mheachair You halved our workload when we joined up.
Marie Cox and all at The Municipal District Council, you halved the half of our workload.
Paul Bourke and his crew, who, for the first time in our 12 years, cleared the car park entirely of cars and gave us a venue that was flawless.
Deirdre Gough who jumped (got dragged)🤣 in last minute to help out with the Kids tractors, you're in the circle now !
An Garda Siochana who worked with us throughout the run and had the craic with us too. Top crew.
The Voluntary Marshalls along the roads who manned the many junctions for us, rock solid.
The Vendors, Amusements and Vincent Power of Vinnys Snacks (best burger in the country) see ye next year.
The public for coming out in their thousands to support us. Thank You.
The drivers. What can we say. Nothing really, they let their tractors do the talking. Lads like Jake Hanrahan and JJ O'Neill with their gazillion lights, Conor O'Brien with the incredible Mercedes, Kieran Hickey who just adores hardship sitting on his beloved Ford (yes he has no roof), the list goes on.
Madness. Its all lunacy when you think of it. There's probably a book to be written in a few years about this. The stories on the run.....
Happy Christmas to all. December 2026 wont be long coming.
See ye then for same again !
