Leitrim Women Through Time – Voices from the Factory Floor

WCI - North Leitrim Women's Centre are delighted that their new Exhibition, ‘Voices from the Factory Floor’, launched at the end of 2025, Voices from the Factory Floor, will be on display and available to visit at the Drumkeerin Old Fair Day taking place this Saturday the 15th of August.

The Exhibition will be in the Drumkeerin Court House from 12.00 Midday this Saturday. Everyone welcome to pop in and view the exhibition.

The exhibition which featured in RTE’s Nationwide’s International Women’s Day Special in March this year, tells the stories and experience’s of women working in industry & factories across Leitrim between the period of 1930 – 2000.

A time when the many factories across the county were reliant on female workforces. The exhibition displays photos, information, and first-hand accounts from the women factory workers, and an accompanying film shares oral history memories from the former workers.

Leitrim Women Through Time is a collaborative heritage project creative by WCI - North Leitrim Women's Centre and Scéal Heritage Consultancy . The project was established in 2022 and sets out to explore and share the stories and the memories of the everyday lives of women in County Leitrim over the last 200 years.

A unique women's history/heritage initiative which records and celebrates the stories of everyday rural women often neglected by history.

Local watercolour artist, Mike Taylor is inviting the public to a fundraising event in aide of on Saturday, 15th August. For this event, you can book a space in advance to take part in a watercolour workshop or just enjoy a small exhibition of printed artworks with the opportunity to purchase some of Mike's prints. Summer Recess Fun! The ladies had an absolute blast on Friday enjoying a lovely trip out on the Moonriver followed by a delicious meal in Cryan’s Bar. And to top it all off they even had a surprise celebrity encounter with Nathan Carter in Cryan’s. You just never know who you might bump into when you’re out and about. A great day filled with fun, laughter, good food and most importantly great company. Pauline Rudden, Kathleen Flanagan, Bernadette Phillips, Liz McCarthy.
