Support for Children & Young People Bereaved by Su***de
Rainbows Ireland is inviting children and young people to take part in Rainbows Bereavement Groups this Autumn 2026.
These groups are available in 18 designated Rainbows Centres nationwide, where facilitators have received additional awareness training to support children who have experienced bereavement by su***de within their family.
This initiative is part of an important research collaboration with the National Su***de Research Foundation, focused on identifying and developing supports that truly meet the needs of young people with this lived experience.
By taking part, children and families will:
Access gentle, peer-based bereavement support
Be supported by trained Rainbows Facilitators
Contribute to shaping future supports for other children and families
All participation is handled with care, sensitivity and respect.
If your child or a young person you know may benefit, we encourage you to connect with your local Rainbows Centre to learn more or Rainbows National Office [email protected]
No child should feel alone in their grief.

What if the way your child approaches, avoids, repeats or changes their play is already telling you what they need?

On Tuesday, I’ll be joining Carlow Parent Hub for Supporting Neurodivergent Children Through Play: a practical family workshop exploring safety, communication, sensory preferences, regulation and connection.

While parents learn, reflect and share together, the children will explore a sensory and open-ended play environment. Families will then come together to observe, connect and put the ideas into practice through shared play.

Every parent will also receive a practical workbook with reflection prompts, play ideas and sensory recipes to revisit at home.

Children do not need a diagnosis to attend. The workshop is suitable for children aged approximately 3–8 years, including those awaiting assessment or receiving additional support.

Last few remaining places left for the Supporting Neurodivergent Children Through Play Workshop on Tuesday 27th October.

The children attending do not need to have a diagnosis to attend this workshop.

Carlow Parent Hub are excited to bring 'Supporting Neurodivergent Children Through Play' with Discovery Playtime in St. Catherine's Community Services Centre, Carlow on Tuesday 27th October at 2.00pm.

This interactive parent-and-child experience explores how play can support neurodivergent children’s communication, regulation, confidence and connection.

While children explore a carefully prepared sensory play area with facilitators and childcare staff, parents take part in an informal, practical talk supported by a workbook.

Families then come together to play, giving parents an opportunity to apply what they have learned by observing, connecting with and responding to their own child.
