As you may have heard The Local Government Association (LGA), acting on behalf of the National Joint Council (NJC) for Local Government Services, announced last night that agreement has been reached on the 2026 pay award for local government employees. The settlement provides for a 3.3% increase in pay rates and allowances with effect from 1 April 2026.

Although the Trade Unions have reluctantly agreed to this pay increase, work has already started on the 2027/28 Pay Award campaign. We urge all members to play an active role in the campaign to help achieve the fair pay award YOU deserve!

The pay award (and arrears from April 1st ) will be paid in Septembers pay for Caerphilly emlpoyees.

A great morning's work as Emma and Kate from Branch joined a full team of volunteers cleaning up Bargoed river!

They managed to collect 15 bags of rubbish, a shopping trolly and a paddling pool in the space of 2 hours! Fabulous work and a great advert on how to get involved for Unison Year of Green activity!

Well done to the Branch Environmental Officer Emma Saunders for organising!
