A great online rehearsal today with Tom and our new actor, Alicia, who will be performing Red Flags at Brigshaw School on 18 June.

A huge thank you to the Kippax, Methley and Micklefield ward councillors for making this possible.

As a former student of Brigshaw, I am incredibly excited to bring my show to the school and share it with the next generation of students.

We are pleased to announce that we have recently been awarded two grants to work with young people on our Youth Ambassador scheme.

The Lottery community fund has awarded us ÂŁ17,250 to create our ambassador programme across Bradford, Leeds, Halifax and Huddersfield

The Asda community foundation awarded us ÂŁ1,000 to work in the Holt Park area of Leeds on project relating to domestic abuse prevention.

Winning grants like this are not easy and a massive testament to the team at Soundproofbox.

We are moving away from using the term “misogyny” and instead focusing on “tackling harmful gender stereotypes”

While misogyny remains an important issue, we believe the term can sometimes be too narrow and may limit opportunities to explore the wider influences that shape attitudes and behaviours.

By broadening the conversation, we can examine the narratives, expectations and media influences that contribute to:

• Macho cultures and rigid ideas of masculinity that can leave men feeling trapped in roles they don’t want to fulfil.
• Homophobic rhetoric and prejudice.
• The objectification of women and harmful attitudes towards gender.

We believe that exploring these issues together creates a richer and more meaningful conversation—one that can help prevent a range of challenges, including poor mental health, violence against women and men, male-on-male violence, and homophobia among young people.

We hope you’ll join us in this conversation and support a more inclusive approach to creating positive change.

Over the past year, we’ve developed a series of concise, one-page guides that explain the key themes explored in our interactive theatre shows and workshops.
Designed for schools, colleges, youth organisations, police forces, local authorities and community groups, these resources provide a clear overview of the topics we cover and the conversations we facilitate with young people.

Our current themes include:
âś… Healthy Relationships
âś… Healthy Friendships
âś… Harmful Gender Stereotypes

Through our growing licenced trainer network, Soundproofbox delivers these programmes across Yorkshire and increasingly throughout the UK, helping thousands of young people develop the knowledge, confidence and critical thinking skills needed to navigate social challenges.
