As are finalists for Charity of the Year, last night I had the pleasure of attending the launch party for the Pride in Diversity Awards Yorkshire at the Viaduct Showbar in Leeds, hosted by Jameson and his incredible team of committed professionals.

The evening gave us a real flavour of what’s to come ahead of the awards ceremony on 18th June.

We heard inspiring speeches from the owner of the Viaduct, Jamie Jones-Buchanan MBE , CEO of Leeds Rhinos, Claire Kenny , Chris Sylvester from last year’s charity winners , and many others — all sharing why it’s so important for Yorkshire to celebrate organisations that champion diversity and inclusion.

It was also so lovely to catch up with Kirsty Elton , Madeleine France , Rachael Allen , Miranda Arieh , and Christine Talbot.

Last night, we handed our show tackling coercive over to a group of young people to lead, facilitate, and organise.

At Soundproofbox, we’re passionate about partnering with organisations that support young people. So when the opportunity came up to collaborate with
on this project, we didn’t hesitate.

Over the past five weeks, Lydia, Charley, Niamah, and Caiden have taken this from idea to reality. They planned the event, secured a venue, auditioned actors, learned how to market through social media, managed sound and tech, and invited their audience. They were given a budget but also rose to the challenge of fundraising. They even landed a slot on Radio.

And last night, they delivered hosting a fantastic show for 50 attendees at St Swithun’s Community Hub in Wakefield, welcoming friends, family, councillors, politicians, Wakefield College staff, and charity partners.

We couldn’t be prouder of what they’ve achieved.

Thank you to everyone involved It was a success.
