When young people tell us our drama gave them the confidence to speak out, it reminds us why we do this.

This week, Soundproofbox is delivering three days of interactive theatre performances for over 1,000 students at Bradford College, exploring misogyny, coercive control, toxic relationships and online harms.

Difficult subjects. Realistic stories. Space to recognise behaviours that should never be accepted as normal.

Young people have told us our performances feel real, spark emotion and leave them feeling empowered to speak out about unhealthy behaviours.

That is the impact that matters to us. Not just what happens during a performance, but what stays with someone long after we have left the college.

Recognising a red flag. Questioning behaviour they once brushed aside. Knowing their voice matters.

Thank you to Bradford College for making space for these important conversations.

Sorry the footage is a bit messy but Yesterday’s rehearsals were an absolute blast! 🎭

We started piecing together our latest short interactive theatre piece, exploring coercive control within a gay relationship a story that is still rarely told publicly.

Actors Tom and Jayden were incredible. Their performances were so powerful that they had both Lise and Ebony in tears. ❤️

This short piece of interactive drama is designed to open up conversations about the hidden dynamics of abuse in same-sex relationships — creating a safe space for people to recognise, question and talk about what healthy relationships really look like.

We’ll be performing it on:

We’ll start the evening with a free drink and networking, followed by the performance and an opportunity to hear more about Soundproofbox and the work we’re doing across communities.

Over the past few weeks, through conversations with MPs and organisations working across different sectors, there has been a clear consensus:

VAWG & Domestic abuse prevention and healthy relationships education cannot sit within one service, one age group or one point in someone’s life.

It needs to be embedded across the whole life course from maternity services and early years, through schools and colleges, into workplaces, communities and later-life services, including elderly care.

Domestic abuse does not discriminate. Prevention therefore requires a multi-agency, whole-system approach, with organisations recognising the touchpoints where education, awareness and early intervention can make a difference.

Soundproofbox doesn’t set policy. But we can contribute to the conversation about what an integrated approach to healthy relationships education could look like.

So, we’ve started mapping the continuum of healthy relationships education across the life course — identifying the key touchpoints where conversations about healthy relationships, boundaries, consent, respect, coercion and abuse can be introduced and reinforced.

Because prevention shouldn’t start when someone is already experiencing abuse.

It should start much earlier and continue throughout life.

We’re keen to hear from people working across health, education, social care, safeguarding, HR, policing, government and the voluntary sector.

Are you an HR leader or a senior member of your organisation?

Then you may already be thinking about some important changes coming into force this month.

From 30 October 2026, employers will have new responsibilities around third-party harassment in the workplace.

That means your people could be protected from harassment by people who don’t work for you including customers, clients, service users, contractors and members of the public.

And for organisations such as hospitality, the NHS, retail, education and customer-facing services, this could have a significant impact.

The question for HR isn’t simply:

“Do we have a policy?”

It’s:

“Are we actually taking all reasonable steps to create a workplace where people are safe from harassment including from the people they serve?”

That’s why Soundproofbox is co-hosting an event in Leeds with LCF Solicitors and Hays, bringing HR professionals together to talk through what these changes could mean in practice.

We’ll finish the event with an interactive Soundproofbox workshop exploring sexual harassment and psychological safety — because legislation can set the standard, but culture determines what happens in the real world.

A really positive meeting with Rachael Maskell today to talk about how we can tackle violence against women and girls (VAWG) across York.

We talked about the importance of a multi-agency approach bringing together schools, colleges, charities, community organisations, frontline services and policymakers to create meaningful, early intervention.

We also discussed how Soundproofbox’s interactive theatre experiences can play a valuable role within the wider education offer, giving young people the opportunity to explore healthy relationships, red flags, misogyny, coercive control and bystander action in a way that feels real, relevant and engaging.

Prevention starts with education, conversation and giving young people the confidence to recognise behaviours and speak up.

I’m really looking forward to continuing the conversation and exploring how we can work together to make a difference across York. 💜
