Welcome to the CVS South Gloucestershire Membership Series where we showcase the fantastic work of the voluntary and community sector in South Gloucestershire. We are delighted to introduce SGREN-South Glos Race Equality Network https://southglosracenetwork.co.uk/
At SGREN, we work to achieve racial equity in South Gloucestershire by improving connectivity, ensuring diverse voices are heard, enhancing access to culturally specific services, and influencing local decision-making.
Quote from SGREN's member during our Travelling Library Event last summer:
“Thank you so much for organising this colourful and inclusive event....it was absolutely brilliant and a great pleasure to be a part of. My children and myself thoroughly enjoyed it and look forward to upcoming cultural events and opportunities.” Janika

Welcome to the CVS South Gloucestershire Membership Series where we showcase the fantastic work of the voluntary and community sector in South Gloucestershire. We are delighted to introduce https://greencommunitytravel.co.uk/ who serve a large area of South Gloucestershire providing an accessible, affordable, and reliable community transport.

We have several services, Ring and Ride, for local journeys such as shopping/GP appointments, Group Hire-helping local community groups with group transport, Voluntary Car- drivers using their own vehicles taking people to and from hospital appointments, Hospital transport- the same scheme but using our vehicles which are fully accessible, Friends of GCT trips- trips in the local area to reduce social isolation and promoting wellbeing, Further afield trips- the same aims but the destinations are further away and would involve more walking and a longer day.

We also currently have a pilot for our hospital shuttle bus- if this is successful, we will apply for a larger grant but we have a bus going to and from Southmead all day for set dates.

Our team is a mix of paid staff and volunteers, we have a really friendly team and are very lucky to have dedicated and generous volunteers, we make volunteering work around people’s lives so there is no minimum requirement for days/hours per week or month.

We are here for anyone that can’t access public transport, this could be due to age, mobility, lack of public buses or bus stops, needing a more supportive travel environment and much more.
Our volunteers enable people get to vital health appointments, allow people to go on days out to garden centres or to lunches, enable local schools and community groups to attend extra curricular activities and days out and volunteers can choose which journeys they prefer.

We have opportunities for those who wish to drive their own vehicle and to drive our vehicles, we provide all the training, sort out DBS checks and also have social events which are a big hit with our whole team.

Quotes from passengers:
“It gives me independence.”
“It stops me being isolated.”

One young person recently shared:
“I have my own sofa - I feel so grown up! I’ve got my own keys and my own front door, and I can decide who comes to visit. I’m still settling in, but this feels like a new start, a new life. I’m thriving. Thank you, 1625.”

Welcome to the CVS South Gloucestershire Membership Series where we showcase the fantastic work of the voluntary and community sector in South Gloucestershire. We are delighted to introduce Bristol Creative Thereapy Centre.

Bristol Creative Therapy’s https://www.bristolcreativetherapycentre.org/ mission is to reach children and their families in need. Our aim is to improve children’s mental health and the wellbeing of children who don’t meet the criteria for statutory funding and whose parents cannot afford the cost of private therapy. We offer highly professional and affordable therapeutic support, which includes 1-1 therapy for children and running small therapeutic groups. We currently offer the modalities of dance movement psychotherapy and play therapy to families in South Gloucestershire and Bristol.

The therapy we provide is for children aged from 4 up to and including teenagers. The children we work with experience anxiety or low self-esteem, they have experienced issues such as loss and bereavement, family breakdowns, physical/sexual abuse, or have developmental conditions such as autism or ADHD.

“When we felt helpless BCTC reached out and absolutely did something to improve our lives We can’t thank them enough”

“BCTC has provided my child with a safe and confidential environment where they can be free to talk and/or create whatever they wish, allowing them to process and work through emotions and thoughts which once were complex and difficult.”

If you are able to offer voluntary IT expertise, particularly relating to social media or keeping our website updated, we would love to hear from you’.

Welcome to the CVS South Gloucestershire Membership Series where we showcase the fantastic work of the voluntary and community sector in South Gloucestershire. We are delighted to introduce the Whitfield Tabernacle whose team are working to turn a historic Kingswood landmark into an arts, heritage, education, and community space.

Kim Scudamore from the Tabernacle board states:
‘We’ve achieved our prime objective of saving the Grade I listed Tabernacle. By the end of September 2026, we are likely to have a usable building, but we now have to focus on making the Tabernacle a sustainable and vibrant community building. Our search for Trustees and Members who can help us achieve that continues.
