Emmaus South Manchester

Emmaus South Manchester Emmaus South Manchester is a growing Wythenshawe-based charity that will empower people to overcome homelessness for good.

Our new residential community, once established, will offer a stable home and life-changing support. Emmaus South Manchester is a growing charity that will empower people to overcome homelessness for good. No-one's life should be defined by homelessness. Emmaus communities are here for people experiencing or at risk of homelessness. We see the person and their strengths – and help them get their l

ife back on track, based on the future they want to create. As part of a nationwide movement of local Emmaus charities, we will equip people with valuable skills, training and work experience to achieve their goals. Within our new caring community, we will build on each individual's abilities, increasing their confidence and self-esteem. The people we support will have a purpose and a chance to make a real contribution to their community. Emmaus South Manchester is a vital part of our local area. Our Wythenshawe Emporium charity store is a place to find affordable furniture, household items, clothing, books, toys and more. We give new life to pre-loved items – reducing waste and promoting reuse. Whilst raising funds to open our new community, we are also supporting local people living in poverty. We’re part of a national network of Emmaus charities, supporting more than 1,000 people every year. In everything we do, we bring people together, amplifying their voices and experiences to prevent homelessness for good. We are also connected to the global Emmaus movement, found in more than 40 countries across the world. You can help us towards our goal by shopping with us, donating goods, fundraising or by getting involved as a volunteer. Find out more at https://emmaus.org.uk/south-manchester/support-us/

Do you know someone with leadership experience and a desire to support a local homelessness charity?

This Volunteer's Week, we're recruiting for a new Chair of Trustees and seeking applicants based in or around Greater Manchester.

Our next stage of development will involve fundraising and partnerships to secure a site, develop and progress the building, and launch our residential community home.

We are seeking someone with suitable skills and experience who will oversee our start-up project. This will involve maximising the contribution of trustees, staff and volunteers to ensure delivery of our charity’s purpose, strategic priorities, mission, vision, strategy and values.

📣 This Volunteer's Week, we're appealing for new people to join our team as Charity Trustees.

Do you care about housing and homelessness in Greater Manchester? Are you keen to give back, apply or build your expertise for a developing local charity?

We're recruiting for three new Trustees with specific skills and experience to strengthen our board and help us achieve our goal.
☑︎ Finance: Someone with professional expertise and experience within a finance or accountancy role.
☑︎ Fundraising: Someone with proven experience in fundraising, through bid-writing, grants, foundations or major donors.
☑︎ Building: Someone who has knowledge and experience in property development or project management.

If you are enthused by teamwork, partnerships, fundraising campaigns, reviewing architect’s plans and ultimately seeing shovels in the ground, this is the perfect time for you to join Emmaus South Manchester.
