This week is volunteers week and I couldn’t put it better than Action for Communities in Rural England in the article below who call volunteers making safe and enjoyable spaces in village halls ‘unsung heroes’.

A huge thank you to all the trustees and volunteers supporting the Institute and other organisations in Wylam for everything you do.

Unsung heroes behind England's village halls saluted for Volunteers' Week 28 May 2026 The selfless dedication of the thousands of people who give up their free time each week to support their local village hall is being recognised as part of this year’s Volunteers’ Week. One more day (and this is my last post on this I promise) to give us your views on our future.

Survey closes on Sunday evening.

Huge thanks to everyone who has contributed

Less than a week to give us your thoughts on the future of Wylam Institute. The survey closes on Sunday night (31 May).

Paper questionnaires available in the Institute and can be posted through the letterbox. Also online via the website https://northumberlandvillagehalls.org.uk/wylam-institute-community-association

Your views are vital to help us understand what you want from your community venue and how you think we can improve and modernise.

Thank you.

In the next week a leaflet and questionnaire will be dropping through the letterbox of everyone in NE41 to ask you for views on the future of the Institute.

We want to thank everyone who has completed the survey so far, which is also available online via our website https://northumberlandvillagehalls.org.uk/wylam-institute-community-association.

The Institute is only hired for 15% of the available time and we want to modernise and encourage a diverse range of activities and services to benefit everyone in NE41. Having your views on how we should develop is vitally important to creating a thriving community venue.

The survey date has been extended to 31 May and you can drop off completed questionnaires in the Institute postbox.

Also the first edition of our Wylam Whispers newsletter is coming too. Future issues will be online only and you can receive these and other occasional updates on the Institute by emailing [email protected] with your name and email address to add to our mailing list.

Thank you.
