Behind the simple crosses is a family, a wife, a son, a brother a daughter a mum a dad, a friend a comrade ! As families move from living memory into history that simple cross name inscribed by human hand ensures an enduring link to those who gave so much and the words lest we forget have meaning.

Tomorrow will be laying close on to 1000 Remembrance Crosses in Worksop’s Memorial
Gardens, this covers every the period 1914 to present day.

Shireoaks continued to remember the fallen, The Shireoaks Colliery was the heart of the community so
It is fitting place to remember the fallen as part of the whole village display. Not all the named on the monument worked at the pit, more research to be done. So
Important to remember those who never can back!

Worksop Festival is something special, we do not try and emulate the national event we simply engage our community show case our young people and do something different to remember the fallen and those injured. It is an amazing team like no other, we do not strive to be the best but we work hard to deliver something we all can be proud. It is the only Branch organised Festival in the county that is exclusively Royal British Legion, although there are other events.

Massive thank you to the Arena Team The Charter Trustees and the many community elements including our Cadet Units, Mercian Regiment Blidworth Band and Seaforth Highlanders and our veterans
