Learning first aid and practising English together 💛

This week at Hope, our Chatter Group got hands-on with a practical first aid session delivered by Access To Business trying CPR on training mannequins and learning how to put someone in the recovery position.

It gave the women something meaningful to talk about, a chance to practise their English and useful skills that could help someone in an emergency.

Taneesha, who coordinates our skills and sessions, noticed confidence growing from the start to the end. Learning together also helped make the group feel more relaxed and social, with women from different language backgrounds taking part alongside each other.

Thank you to Access to Business and everyone who joined in.

This is what Chatter Group is about: meeting people, building confidence and learning together. 💛

💛 Sometimes it’s the practical things that make the biggest difference.

Through our Here Together project, we recently supported a local family who needed a cooker.

With support from Smallwood Trust and Acts 435, we were able to help make sure the family had the cooker they needed.

After it arrived, the family sent us this lovely message:

“May God reward you for all the help and support.”

For us, Here Together is about listening to people and helping with the things that are making everyday life difficult.

Sometimes that might be advice or helping someone find the right service. Other times, it can be something as practical as making sure a family has a cooker.

A big thank you to Acts 435 Acts for helping us make practical support like this possible. 💛

🖤 Black History Month 2026

This Black History Month, our theme at Hope is Honouring Our Community.

Heath Town is home to people from many different cultures, countries and backgrounds, and our Black communities are an important part of the story of our neighbourhood.

Throughout October, we want to celebrate the people, stories, cultures, achievements and everyday contributions that have helped shape our community.

For us, Black History Month is also about listening and learning from each other, sharing stories across generations and making sure everyone feels that they belong.

We’ll be sharing more throughout the month.

Black History Month at Hope
Honour Our Community. 🖤
