It’s not just one type
A lot of people think breast cancer is just one disease …
But in reality, there are many different types, and each person’s journey can look completely different. 💖

💎Here are just a few:

✨ Ductal Carcinoma (IDC/DCIS)
The most common type, starting in the milk ducts.

✨ Lobular Breast Cancer
Begins in the milk-producing glands and can be harder to detect on scans.

✨ HER2-Positive Breast Cancer
A faster growing type, but one that often responds well to targeted treatment.

✨ Triple Negative Breast Cancer
Less common, but can be more aggressive and requires different treatment approaches.

✨ Metastatic (Secondary) Breast Cancer
This is when cancer has spread to other parts of the body. It is treatable, but not currently curable - and those living with it deserve ongoing support, understanding, and visibility. 💕

💎 Every diagnosis is unique. Every journey is different.
And every person deserves the right support along the way.
✨ And while we’re talking about awareness …
Don’t forget to check your chest regularly. Knowing your body could help you spot changes early.

A cancer diagnosis can change someone’s world in a moment. 💎

People often focus on appointments, treatment plans and practical support — but the emotional impact of a diagnosis can be just as significant.

Many people are not prepared for the feelings that can come with it:

✨ It’s normal not to feel positive every day.
✨ Many people grieve their old normal, routine and sense of certainty.
✨ Everyone copes differently — there is no right or wrong response.
✨ Some days may feel manageable, others overwhelming.
✨ Small acts of kindness and support can make a huge difference.
✨ Strength often shows up in ways people don’t expect.
✨ Life can still hold joy, hope and purpose beyond diagnosis.

Awareness is not only about signs, symptoms and treatment — it is also about understanding the emotional realities people may face.

At Sam’s Diamonds, we are passionate about helping turn victims into survivors and survivors into thrivers through positivity, peer support and community. You never have to face it alone. 💖

💙 Support for Men Supporting Someone with Cancer

We know that when someone receives a cancer diagnosis, it also affects the people who care about them.

Our friends at St Helens Wellbeing Service and Macmillan are running a monthly support session called “The Check In”, designed specifically for men who are supporting someone affected by cancer.

These sessions offer a safe and welcoming space to talk, connect with others in a similar position, and access support.

📅 Last Thursday of every month
🗓 Next session: Thursday 26th March

If you know someone who may benefit from attending, please feel free to share this with them.

Sometimes the people supporting others need support too. 💙

💙 International HPV Awareness Day

Today is about raising awareness of HPV (Human Papillomavirus) — a very common virus that most people will come into contact with at some point in their lives.

Many people have HPV without ever knowing, because it often causes no symptoms and the immune system usually clears the virus naturally within a couple of years.

However, some types of HPV can cause changes to cells that may lead to cancer over time if left untreated.

HPV is linked to several cancers, including:
• Cervical cancer
• A**l cancer
• Cancers of the throat and mouth
• Vulval and vaginal cancer
• Pe**le cancer

The virus is spread through skin-to-skin s*xual contact, including vaginal, a**l or oral s*x.

✨ The good news: there are ways to reduce the risk.
• The HPV vaccine protects against the types of HPV that cause most cancers.
• Cervical screening can detect early cell changes before they develop into cancer.

HPV affects people of all genders, and awareness is one of the most powerful tools we have in preventing HPV-related cancers.

Today is a reminder to:
💙 Learn the facts
💙 Attend screening when invited
💙 Talk openly about HPV and cancer prevention

Knowledge saves lives.
