Volunteer Awards 2026 - Nominations Now Open

We are pleased to launch the Halton & St Helens Volunteer Awards 2026, recognising and celebrating the valuable contribution that volunteers make across our communities.

Each year, the Volunteer Awards provide an opportunity to highlight the dedication, commitment and impact of volunteers across Halton and St Helens, and to thank them for the difference they make.

Celebrating Volunteers Across Two Boroughs

The Volunteer Awards take place annually, alternating between Halton and St Helens. In 2026, we are pleased to be hosting the awards ceremony in Runcorn on Friday 16th October 2026, as part of this ongoing approach.

This year’s awards also form part of Culture 26 in Halton, celebrating the borough’s creativity, heritage and community spirit.

Further information, and the link to the online nomination form is available at https://www.haltonsthelensvca.org.uk/updates/volunteer-awards-2026-nominations-now-open

Nominations are now open and should be submitted by midday on Friday 18 September 2026.

VOLA LCR Youth Guarantee Trailblazer Grants Programme

VOLA will launch the second round of the Liverpool City Region Youth Guarantee Trailblazer community grants programme on Friday 19th June 2026.

The programme supports 18–21-year-olds who are not in employment, education or training (NEET), helping them to build confidence, overcome barriers and progress towards employment, education or training.

About the funding

Funded by the UK government through the LCR Combined Authority, the programme will make £450,000 available across the Liverpool City Region.

Locally based VCFSE organisations can apply to deliver projects that support young Liverpool City Region residents to overcome personal challenges and barriers.

Key details

Grant value: £10,000 to £40,000.
Delivery period: September 2026 to March 2027.
Eligibility: Criteria apply to both organisational eligibility and the types of projects that can be funded.

Online briefing sessions

VOLA is hosting online briefing sessions for interested organisations on Tuesday 23rd, Wednesday 24th and Thursday 25th June.

The same workshop will run on three different days/times for convenience, so you only need to attend one session. Each will last approximately 1 hour.

The Shadow Volunteer programme
The Shadow Volunteer programme puts successful applicants into the heart of the work Forestry England does by placing them into teams where they will learn from Forestry England colleagues as they carry out their day-to-day tasks.
Shadow volunteers are given training and will develop on-the-job skills and experience during their placements, which run one to three days a week for a period of six months.
Forestry England welcomes a wide range of applicants and require no specific qualifications.
The link to the shadow volunteer page - https://postly.app/4bLW - holds more information and the roles available.
