The annual WHP pumpkin carving competition is a sacred tradition, and we’re pretty sure this year is the best yet. Each team member has carved a pumpkin, and visitors have been voting for their favourites.

Last night was the last of our three screenings of Ghosts: The Possession of Button House, and what a joy it has been to host you all.

People came from as far as Glasgow, Northumberland, Liverpool and Swansea, to see their favourite ghosts on the big screen in front of Button House.

A massive amount of work went into pulling these very special drive-in screenings together, so we thought we’d share a little peek behind the scenes.

TOMORROW NIGHT ✨

We only have a handful of tickets left for our final drive-in screening of Ghosts: The Possession Of Button House, on Wednesday 28th October.

Ticket includes up to 4 people per car, exclusive drinks reception in Button House itself, a tour of props from the film, a complementary drink and souvenir, and the movie screening.

Tickets £150 per car.
Gates open 5.30pm, screening starts at 8pm.

THIS WEEKEND ONLY 🔥 One autumn night you won’t forget. West Horsley Place travels back 1,000 years. Wrap up warm and wander between the smiths, weavers and spinners at work, taste Saxon recipes in our ancient kitchen, and follow the tale of Beowulf as it unfolds through the afternoon.

Then, as the light fades and the air turns crisp, we all gather together. A hand-built Saxon ship is set alight by flaming arrows against the darkening sky.

Shield-making, storytelling and Saxon games for the little ones. Crafts, combat displays and fireside magic for everyone.

Half term is sorted!

Minibeast hunts on the estate, a Saxon fire festival, BBC Ghosts filmmaking and printing, musical theatre, spooky stories in the Manor House, glowing lanterns, Halloween screen printing, drop-in art days for the little ones and a full day of stained glass for the grown-ups. Ten ways to make the most of the October holidays at West Horsley Place.

We also have our usual tours running and lots of Ghosts-related activities throughout half term.

We’re delighted to announce that this October, Ghosts comes home.

For three very special screenings of Ghosts: The Possession of Button House, West Horsley Place - the real Button House and the location where the much-loved BBC series and new movie were filmed - will become a spectacular drive-in cinema.

Before the film begins, the doors to Button House itself will be thrown open for an exclusive pre-screening reception. Enjoy a tipple at CocSoc, take a tour of props from the actual movie and visit all your favourite selfie spots. Then it’s back to your car to watch the ghosts in their first big screen outing, on a huge 40ft screen positioned right in front of Button House itself. To make it even more special everyone will get a special souvenir gift to say you were there.

With two exclusive screenings before the film’s nationwide release and one on release day itself, fans will have the extraordinary chance to watch Button House on screen in its spiritual home.

Did you know that you can just take a walk through the West Horsley Place Estate?

We’ve been lucky enough to be awarded National Heritage Lottery Funding, for our project A Quiet Revolution.

The Willow Walk is a set of interventions woven into the estate to give people, especially children, reasons to stop, look and play, rather than just passing through.

The trail includes a mud kitchen, made from tree trunks and complete with hand carved utensils.

As well as a weaving frame and willow pathway.

And an amazing Cloud Gazing area: wooden rests you can lean against to look up at the clouds - each positioned for a different view.

Come and explore our grounds with your little ones for an outdoorsy free day out. With thanks to The National Lottery Heritage Fund and it’s players for making this project possible.
