TRAINING NIGHT - Last night was all about search techniques 🔦
When someone goes missing, how we search matters as much as how quickly we search. Last night's training went back to the core skills behind every callout:
✅ Choosing the right technique and making it effective. We covered hasty searches, route and path searches, and area searches, and when to use each one.
✅ Getting the right information. What we need to know before anyone leaves RVP.
✅ Deploying teams. Getting the right people to the right place with a clear task.
✅ Staying safe. Always first, especially in the dark.
After the whiteboard briefing, the teams headed out into the night to put it into practice. Working through long grass and rough ground by head torch under a hazy moon was a good reminder of the conditions our searchers often face for real.
A special welcome to our new trainees. You got stuck straight in, asked great questions and made a real contribution to your teams. We're very glad to have you with us. 👏
Thank you to everyone who came out: the trainers who planned and led the session, the team leaders who guided their groups, our control and support crew, and every member who gave up their evening. This is the quiet, unseen work that means we're ready when the call comes.
