ACE is pleased to share details of our new "Mugs and Moments" peer support group, aimed at parents of Primary School aged children. The group aims to offer a space for parents to meet to connect, share experiences, and access informal support.

One decision. Two lives changed forever.

This Black History Month, we're celebrating a Black adoptive mum whose love, commitment and cultural connection are helping her daughter thrive.

Eighteen months ago, she adopted her seven-year-old daughter and began a life-changing journey.

"I always knew I could give a child a good home."

Today, her greatest joy is simple:

"Having my daughter call me mum. Seeing how settled she is and watching her thrive."

She hopes more people from Black communities will consider adoption, helping children grow up with strong cultural connections and shared heritage.

For anyone thinking about adoption, her message is clear:

"Go for it. Trust the process. Adopters and adoptees are a real family."

"I'd love to adopt, but I don't think I could afford it."

This is one of the biggest misconceptions about adoption.

When you adopt through Adoption Central England (ACE), there is no fee to become an adopter apart from the cost of a medical with your GP. In some circumstances, financial support may be available, particularly for children with additional needs or sibling groups.
