We are looking to develop peer support groups as part of our post adoption support offer to families and young people, and your views are really important in shaping this.

By listening to the experiences, ideas and preferences of parents of primary aged children and of young people aged 18–25, we are hoping to create support groups that feel relevant, helpful and accessible.

We currently have groups / coffee mornings for parents of Teenagers, pre-school groups and have young people's groups but have recognised that we currently do not have opportunities in place for parents of primary aged children or for young people aged 18 - 25.

We believe that these support groups work best when informed by the people who will use them, so we’re asking you to share your thoughts through a short survey.

Your feedback will directly influence how these groups are designed and delivered, and we would really appreciate it if you could take the time to complete this form by the 29th June.

If you are a parent or carer of a primary aged child, please complete this survey:

If you are a young person aged 18–25, please complete this survey:

This is such a powerful video which really highlights the experiences of so many of our young people and all they have to navigate every day.

A really good reminder of the importance of listening to young people's voices and creating supportive environments where they can thrive.

This Pride Month, we’re celebrating the many ways families are made and the love that makes room for them all 🌈

Across the UK, around 1 in 4 people who adopt are LGBTQ+, playing a vital role in providing loving homes for children who need them.

This month is about celebrating those families and sharing their stories, because every family deserves to be seen and supported ❀️

If you’ve felt the pull toward adoption, learn more via our website at www.youcanadopt.co.uk πŸ”—β€‹

ACE was excited to be a part of the new pan-regional Voice and Influence Strategy launch in Birmingham today as staff from all five agencies (ACE, Adoption Focus, AdoptBirmingham, Adoption@Heart and Together4Children) came together to make pledges to drive this forward in a meaningful way.

We heard powerful messages from adopters about the importance of peer support, co-production, and opportunities to meaningfully connect, and can't wait to take this further within ACE with the support of our new Participation Development Officer!

Another lovely afternoon spent at our Young People's Group today!

What are Reasonable Adjustments and does your child have them?

Under the Equality Act 2010, schools have a legal duty to make Reasonable Adjustments for disabled pupils. This applies even without an EHCP. πŸ“š

These are not extras or privileges, they are legal entitlements for children with a disability. A school cannot apply a blanket policy that discriminates against your child.

❓ Have you asked your child's school what reasonable adjustments are in place? If not, now is a great time to start that conversation.

"Wrong Size Fits All' is a short film production that chronicles the personal journeys, based on the experiences shared by members of IMPACT, Warwickshire's youth forum for individuals with special educational needs and disabilities (SEND).

The film shows the personal journeys and struggles young people can face in school. .

Produced in collaboration with Coventry University BA Film Production students, the project highlights how traditional, inflexible educational approaches fail diverse learners. The young people involved wanted to show that without a sense of safety and individualised care, meaningful learning cannot take place.

We think this is a really powerful watch.
