This beauty was sitting on one of our plants here at the sanctuary, he’s a tiger moth, although they’re been around for millions of years he was first named by a Swedish botanist in the 1700s.
Unlike many moths, they are day-fliers.
Isn’t he stunning.

I haven’t posted anything today up until now as I’ve been too hot and too drained. Evening is still in the 30s which is way too hot for me at my age I just hate it. Especially having outdoor jobs to do. I heard it’s been half this temperature in Scotland so I’m moving there 😂
The dogs have hardly moved all day and have fans on them. How are all your animals in this heat ?
We went to get hay today in this sweltering heat but had a wasted trip, we thought the hay was waiting for us but when we got there it wasn’t and couldn’t get the farmer to reply to my message so we had a wasted trip and to be honest when we got back we were both so hot we couldn’t do much and flaked out. We will go and get hay in the next day or two but they have enough for now. Hugo is rather fussy and loves his small bales which I put in his own bachelor penthouse suit.

It’s 7.30pm and it’s still too hot for taking the dogs out. I have jyst had my third cold shower and I’ve got to prep their morning feed, things I need to put in soak for the morning feed for goats and sheep. It’s glorious weather unless you have to work out in it, I’m really not enjoying it. It reminds me of the hottest days in 1976 I loved the hot weather back then when I was young! How many of you remember the same temperatures as these in 1976 ?

Teddy’s a water spaniel but isn’t keen on getting in water 😆it seems that all our dogs were nowhere to be seen once I’d filled the paddling pool, except Bodie who only jumped in and straight out again! So it’s gonna be just me cooling down in the paddling pool I think.
