We are an independent group of individuals who have formed ourselves into an Association to ensure the continuation of Priory Park as a maintained but unmanicured recreational area in the heart of the town of Warwick.

We have to say a very sad goodbye to this most majestic oak right at the top of Priory Park. The Forestry team informed me of what was needed after finishing the beech tree not far away from the medical centre. It has serious fungi issues at the base of it and this old oak has unfortunately had its day.

We at FOPP will continue to work with WDC Green Spaces to see where and what can be planted in replace of these trees. If trees like the beeches that have had issues recently, it may not be wise to plant further of those, but we will see what the alternatives are. This at least does also show the council are reviewing these trees, as said before.

Please don't keep adding the same negative comments about trees on these posts. FOPP continues to work with the council where we can and have a number of great plans for the future. We have regular open meetings (next one on Tuesday 20th October at the Wild Boar 7pm) where we can try and answer questions and take away actions, so please try and attend and help support our work.

So sad to see that this beech tree, having shed a large bough had to be cut right back. It was very uneven after it was shed, so it was dangerous I assume.

I added some pics of the lovely Autumn Crocus and the Empress tree to cheer us up!

What's known as a 'Hive of activity' ! This is the dead tree that fell in Priory Pools. The video doesn't do the sound it is making from inside. Wonderful!

Happy Friday all!
The park is showing a little more green following some rain in the last few days.
Now we are coming into Autumn, the bee box will be removed shortly for the bee cocoons to be looked after over winter, ready to become bees next year. There are a good amount of them in there as you can see.

Beech tree being made safe following a large branch fallen.

Not completely gone, but the beech tree has been reduced right down to make it safe.
An amazing job by the Forestry team and great to watch. Back next week to clear it up.
