Spoiler: not everyone who volunteers with with us spends weekends hiking or evenings leading activities. Some do.

But others help us with social media, fundraising, governance, finance, event planning, admin and the many other things that keep Scouting in St John's going and growing. Whether you've got a specialist skill, or simply want to make a difference, there'll be a volunteering role that fits around you.

Drop us a message if you're interested in finding out more

Could you be a problem solver?

Our biggest challenge isn't finding young people as we have lots on our waiting list. Our biggest problem is finding volunteers to support the group for those young people to come off the waiting list.
Could you volunteer with us and solve our problem in creating more spaces here at Scouts in St John's?

šŸŒ’ Tonight’s solar eclipse, explained by Scouts…

Full moon. Half moon. Total eclipse.

Although, leave a plate of s’mores near our Scouts and that total eclipse may happen considerably faster than predicted! šŸ˜‚šŸ”„

With only ā€˜One More Sleep’ until Central Yorkshire Scouts’ Challenge 26, members of the team have been busy pitching tents in (According to Look North) the hottest place in Yorkshire today!

We are very lucky to have been able to buy a lot of new camping equipment this year due to Gift Aid, so we’re excited to see all the new tents and marquees in use!

See you all tomorrow!

Adventure Isn’t Just for the Kids! āšœļø
Are you looking for a way to give back to your community that doesn't necessarily involve tying knots or camping in the rain? We are looking for dedicated, skilled individuals to join our Board of Trustees and help shape the future of local Scouting.

While the young people are busy learning survival skills, our Trustees are the "backstage crew" making sure the show goes on. We are currently looking for enthusiastic volunteers with professional expertise in:

šŸ  Property & Premises Management: Help us maintain and develop our meeting place.
āš–ļø Legal or Charity Governance: Ensure we’re always operating safely and within the lines.
šŸ’° Financial Expertise: Keep our budget on track so more kids can access Scouts.
šŸ“ˆ Fundraising Expertise: Help us secure the grants and donations that fuel our adventure.

Why Join Us?
You don’t need to have been a Scout to apply! You just need a bit of time, a lot of enthusiasm, and the desire to use your professional "superpowers" for good.

Impact: Directly influence the opportunities available to young people in our area.
Flexibility: Quarterly meetings and remote support—perfect for busy professionals.
Community: Join a friendly, purpose-driven team.
"Scouting isn't just about the knots we tie, it's about the community we build."

Ready to lead the way?
If you have the skills to help us grow, we’d love to grab a coffee and chat.

šŸ“© Interested? Send us a DM or email [email protected] for more info.
