A few voluntary roles we are looking to fill
Hi all - At 1st Virginia Water, we are always looking to make the lives of our volunteers (Leaders, Trustees, Supporters) easier. Therefore, I am looking to appoint people in the following positions:
- Cleaner -> We are looking for someone to assist our current cleaner Liz in going to the hall once a month to assist with the cleaning of the hall. This is usually done on a Friday morning, however, your week is flexible. The only timings we are unable to offer (Other than evenings) is Tuesday mornings until 12.30pm.
- Treasurer [T] -> We are actively looking for someone to join as a treasurer who manages the front side of the treasury, this includes managing the payments which go through OSM (Including chasing). We split this role in two as there is always lots to do with the treasury, so this role is now perfect. If you would like more details, I am more than happy to send these via email.
- Assistant Leaders for Wolf Cubs -> Following a discussion with one of our Team Leaders for Wolves - The need is clear for another one or two Team Members to join Wolf Cubs (Wolf Cubs run on a Monday evening and we are looking for one or two adults to assist the delivery of their programme. We are asking for a minimum of one Monday evening (6.30pm to 8pm) once a fortnight.
- Minute taker [T] -> We are also currently looking to appoint a minute taker for the trustee board meetings.
- Fundraisers -> We are looking to set up a team of parent helpers on a sub-committee who are able to help us on the occasional fundraising events. This includes actively seeking ways to further enrich the funds for our activities we provide, as well as organising the planning and delivery of stalls at local fairs, etc.
If you are interested in any of these positions, please get in touch! If you know of anyone who might also be interested but is not in these group chats, please pass on my email address [email protected] and we can send them the details.
1st Virginia Water continues to remain a really successful group, and that is entirely down to all the volunteers who take part in their respective activities.
These roles, for the most part are fairly light duties. Some are marked with a [T] next to the role name, this means that the role requires becoming a member of the Scout groups Trustee Board.
All candidates for an adult appointment in Scouting must be 18+ and be subject to an Enhanced Disclosure (DBS) check at minimum. Some roles also require additional training and training checks. Any candidate for the role will be fully supported throughout the joining process and be given a full run down on how things are run at a group level.
