This summer Towcester Choral Society invites you to experience a vibrant evening of music with its upcoming concert, The Colours of the Rainbow, taking place on Saturday 27 June at 7.30pm in the beautiful surroundings of St Lawrence Church. Tickets £15 adults, £3.50 children including refreshments.

Inspired by the rich palette of musical colour found in choral and jazz traditions, the programme brings together much-loved modern classics that sparkle with energy, rhythm and emotion. At the heart of the concert is Mass in Blue by Will Todd, a thrilling fusion of the traditional Latin Mass with the sounds of jazz. Since its premiere in 2003, this joyful and uplifting work has become a favourite with choirs and audiences alike. With its soaring melodies, blues harmonies and irresistible swing rhythms, it offers something for everyone — from moments of serene beauty to passages bursting with exuberance.

Complementing this is the iconic Rhapsody in Blue by George Gershwin, performed on the piano by the talented Jonathan French. Famous for its sweeping melodies and dazzling virtuosity, this beloved masterpiece blends classical music with jazz influences.

These works, together with other pieces sung by the choir, create a musical “rainbow” of colour and mood - from deep blues and glowing warmth to moments of brilliant musical sunshine. The concert promises to be an inspiring and memorable evening.

Today we had an amazing workshop under the expert guidance of our MD Helen Swift, accompanied on the keyboard by Rowena Gibbons and we were lucky enough to welcome Soprano soloist Kat Williams together with lots of guests from other choirs.
We sang through all of the Todd as well as eating lots of cake and catching up with friends.
Thanks to everyone who helped to organise it.
