The High Sheriff of Northamptonshire, who advocates for all voluntary services, welcomed me as Town Mayor, the The Rotary Club of Towcester and organisers from Towcester MidSummer Music Festival to his annual afternoon tea last month. It was also great to meet up with our friends from Northamptonshire Search and Rescue who undertake so much good work locally.

The weekend of the 27th and 28th June was another busy weekend. On Saturday I listened to a wonderful performance by the Towcester Choral Society - “Colours of the Rainbow”. We are so lucky to have such wonderful singers

Sunday was the annual St Lawrence Church Fete hosted by Tove Benefice. It was a wonderful family event and a big shout out to all the volunteers for such superb hard work and commitment. The highlight for me was meeting Hugo the Shire Horse.

This year was the 24th annual Towcester Midsummer Music Festival over 18-21 June, which was such a great success and really showed what a wonderful community spirit we have in the Town. Huge congratulations and thanks to The Rotary Club of Towcester and Towcester Town Council for all their hard work in putting the event together. We had such great performers all over the Town but a big special well done to all our school choirs and Towcester NMPAT.

The Towcester Junior Football Tournment took place over the weekend of 13 & 14 June. Over a thousand people attended this two day event organised by Towcester Town Football Club. Visiting Clubs congratulated the Football Club on such a great and well run event. The club were supported by dedicated volunteers who helped to ensure everyone enjoyed themselves. I have had a busy few days. On Friday I joined the High Sheriff at the Town Hall to celebrate our wonderful volunteers. The event was organised by South Northants Volunteer Bureau. Please go and see them to discover all the volunteering opportunities available locally.

On Saturday I could be found judging the Bake Off at Towcester CE Primary School before opening Hawksfest at Nicholas Hawksmoor Primary School. We are so lucky to have such wonderful Primary Schools in our area.

On Sunday I attended the Tove Valley Baptist Fellowship to celebrate their 5th Anniversary. It was a very joyous service and thank you all for sharing your great facilities with the Towcester Community.

And that's a wrap!!

It's been an honour to have served Towcester as it's Mayor over the last year and I thank everyone for their support throughout my term.
I am delighted that my charity Towcester NMPAT is in a strong position to continue to offer the young people of Towcester and the surrounding villages, the opportunity to experience the joy of music and performing.
Please don't forget their open day is on Wednesday 20th May. Drop along from 4.30pm if you have a budding musician, singer or performer at home.

I wish the new Mayor Cllr. Maggie Clubley a successful and enjoyable year ahead.
