What a brilliant day representing Testwood Lakes Sailability at The One Romsey Festival! ⛵💙

Today was all about raising awareness, making new connections, and showing people that sailing really can be for everyone.

We loved meeting so many friendly faces, speaking with potential volunteers, and sharing how our charity helps people with disabilities and additional needs experience the freedom, confidence, and joy that being on the water can bring.

Every person who stopped to chat, asked a question, shared our story, or showed an interest in volunteering has helped us take another step towards making sailing more accessible for all.

What an incredible day at The One Romsey Festival!

We’ve loved meeting so many new faces, sharing our passion for inclusive sailing, and talking to people interested in volunteering with Testwood Lakes Sailability. The support and interest we’ve received today has been amazing.

Did you know that our charity helps make sailing accessible for people with disabilities and additional needs? Through adapted boats, specialist equipment, and dedicated volunteers, we’re helping more people experience the freedom, confidence, and enjoyment that sailing can bring.

We’re still here until 5pm, so if you’re at the festival, come and find us, have a chat, and discover how you can get involved—whether as a sailor, volunteer, supporter, or sponsor.

We have several exciting community events coming up over the next few months where TLS will be hosting information and fundraising stands, and we would really love some volunteer support.

We are really pleased to be at the following upcoming events but need more volunteers to help us please … they are as follows :

🎉 Totton Family Fun Day & Food Festival – Saturday 23rd May
From 11:00 am to 5:00 pm at the Snows Stadium (SO40 2RW). This free-entry event, organised by AFC Totton, features a fun fair, live music, a food festival, and a penalty shootout.

⛪ One Romsey – Sunday 14th June
One Romsey, a free-entry vibrant celebration of local culture, community spirit, and diversity, from 11:00 AM to 5:00 PM in Romsey Town Centre and War Memorial Park. This free event features music, food, and arts.

🛒 Morrisons Supermarket Collection – Monday 15th June
Venue: Morrisons, Spruce Drive, Totton, Southampton SO40 8AD
Time: 8 am - 6 pm
2 Volunteers per slot. If you could spare time (in hour slots) to help it would be greatly appreciated. In the past Morrisons has a success as it gain TLS volunteers in addition to donations.

🎭 Totton Carnival – Saturday 20th June
The 2026 Totton and Eling Carnival features a "Disney" theme. The parade begins around 3:45pm from AFC Totton/Calmore Industrial Estate and travels to Eling Recreation Ground for festivities (parade, music, stalls, and characters). The event is a longstanding local tradition (running for over 100 years) aimed at supporting the community and local groups.

☀️ Mayor’s Picnic – Sunday 5th July
Midday until 5:00pm
Romsey War Memorial Park
Organised by The Rotary Club of Romsey Test. Highlight include The Great Rotary Duck Race: A popular feature where plastic ducks race on the River Test. Live music on the bandstand, stalls, and community activities. This event is free to attend and acts as a traditional "village fete" to raise funds for local charities.

Our adapted dinghies are at the heart of what we do at Testwood Lakes Sailability (TLS).

Specially designed to provide safe, accessible sailing opportunities, these boats enable people with a wide range of disabilities to experience the excitement and freedom of being out on the water. Whether it’s their first time sailing or they’re a seasoned sailor, our adapted fleet helps make sailing accessible to everyone.

Seeing the smiles, confidence and sense of achievement that sailing brings to our members is why we do what we do.

Sailing has no barriers at TLS – just opportunities.
