Please join us on Monday 9th November for a special fundraising film screening of Kamal Aljafari’s 2025 film ‘With Hasan in Gaza’.

📅 Monday 9th November 2026
⏰ Doors open at 7pm (bring cash for stall, tea and cakes, film starts at 7.30pm
📍St John’s Church, Bridgetown, Totnes, TQ9 5AB.

‘With Hasan in Gaza’ shows the life of Gazans and Gaza back then in 2001. Almost every location that the camera is showing you is now destroyed, in ruins. But when you watch it today, you wonder what happened to every single person that appeared by chance in those days. The discovering of the tapes was really almost like discovering life after death - a sign against erasure.

Assembled from three MiniDV tapes shot in 2001 during a trip to Gaza to find a former cellmate. Kamal Aljafari’s 2025 Golden Leopard-nominated film invites us to consider whether cinema can preserve - and perhaps restore - places that have been physically destroyed but must remain alive in memory.

Thank you again to everyone who came along and supported this year’s Vigil for the Children of Gaza, in Totnes. Together we’ve raised almost £1500 to help support 3 families in Gaza.

If you missed the Vigil but would like to add something to the pot to help support 3 young families in Gaza ….you can do so at

Thank you to the wonderful musicians who sang and played at interludes through the evening.

Our second ‘Vigil for the Children of Gaza’ takes place on All Souls Day - Sunday 1st November. The church is a little cooler than usual, as the heating is broken, so do come wrapped up warm - and feel the warmth of community as we join together in solidarity and remembrance.

Please join us for a hearty autumn soup and delicious sourdough bread at 5pm before the Vigil starts at 6pm. Thank you so much to LUNA’S BAKEHOUSE for the nourishing and delicious bread, and to all our volunteers and this community 💛🙏🏽💛
