Open to members + casual users. Part of the Woodland Presents CIC Woodlab is managed by a small team of professional woodfolk (complete with phenomenal skills and excruciating good looks). It may seem like we’ve been wandering around forests for too long, but don’t be fooled. Underneath our plaid exterior lies 45 years of combined experience in forest economics, deep ecology, regenerative forestry
, joinery and design. Amongst the many other maker-spaces, our approach means we can see the wood for the trees. The whole team believe timber is first and foremost part of a wider natural system which must be kept in balance. We believe trees are not handy freebies for indiscriminate human consumption. They are homes, centres of biodiversity, and essential for natural carbon sequestration. Using the best tools without having to buy them is a no-brainer right?? Well, there are some slick things at Woodlab to help you. This constantly evolving range is here to enable you to make stuff better, quicker and cheaper. There’s always someone to lend a hand or offer some advice on a build. You can also find out whether you actually need to buy the new shiny thing yourself by trying it with us first. We welcome the causal user but offer discounted rates to Woodlab Members, as well as courses, up-skilling, talks and lectures, demonstrations and the opportunity to become part of a growing maker network. Woodlab is part of The Woodland Presents CIC, basically we are responding to the needs of British woodlands, and the communities around them.
