Proud2Be A grassroots queer-led social enterprise supporting LGBTQIA+ people in Devon and beyond since 2011

Inspired by the mental health issues they faced as a result of the bullying, isolation, and discrimination they experienced growing up as LGBTQ+ in a rural village, twins Max and Maya Price set up Proud2Be in 2011 by launching the Proud2Be campaign which features videos and photos from various public figures and members of the public. Since then, Proud2Be has established itself as a well-respected social enterprise, facilitating various groups and events for adults and families, including an online group, an in-person evening group in Newton Abbot, an in-person family-friendly Saturday group in Newton Abbot, a low-key in-person group in Newton Abbot, a monthly parent/carer support group in Newton Abbot, various one-off events throughout the year all over South Devon and 121 adult support. Proud2Be also runs a youth project, which includes in-person weekly youth groups in South Devon and a 121 youth support programme. Proud2Be delivers interactive workshops to young people and awareness training to organisations and schools around the UK.

We're looking for a Lead Youth Worker to join our vibrant and dynamic team of Youth Support Workers.

Our new Lead Youth Worker will help to guide our Youth Team, deliver a weekly programme of popular Youth Groups, provide 121 support and plan residentials, trips and events.

🕒 Hours 18 hours per week (including evenings and weekends)
📍 Location: Newton Abbot and Paignton, Devon
💷 Salary: £14,355.84 (£29, 908 pro-rata)

This year we'll be at the Buckland Centre in Newton Abbot with a collection of creepy activities including:

This October we have our regular youth groups and, in the half term break, our Halloween Party.

🏳️‍🌈 Newton Abbot Youth Group on Tuesdays: 6th and 13th
🏳️‍🌈 Paignton Youth Group on Thursday: 1st, 8th and 15th
🏳️‍🌈 Haunted Hang Out is on the 30th October, 6pm to 9pm at the Buckland Centre in Newton Abbot.

Our groups are for LGBTQIA+ people age 13-17 only. Young People must register before attending their first group which you can do by email or visit our website for more information.
