Friends of Downsway We are the Friends of Downsway Primary School, fundraising through events and activities

Friends of Downsway (FOD) is a group of parents and carers who work with the school to organise fund-raising events. Our aim is to raise money to finance extra projects across the school and to have some fun along the way! We have held many successful fund-raising activities over the years, enhancing the children's school life, whilst raising thousands of pounds at the same time. If you have a child at the school, then you are automatically a Friend of Downsway. We are always looking for help, enthusiasm and new ideas and would love to see you at one of our meetings or events - please don't be shy! We would like to thank everybody who has helped support the Friends of Downsway events – we couldn’t do it without you! A few group rules:

* Keep discussions positive and focused on our events and fundraising activities
* Use language appropriate for a caring and respectful community
* Please do not post photos of children, or name anyone without their permission
* The page Administrator(s) reserve the right to delete comments that do not follow the guidelines stated above

We interrupt the current Halloween/fireworks night posts to remind you to SAVE THE DATE! We've got your favourite festive fair coming back on 5th December - you won't want to miss it. Keep an eye out for ways to get involved over the next few weeks.

We are hosting another fabulous evening of craft with Marie from FlyingArt _with_Thatartlady on Friday 16 October. Come and try your hand at one of the latest viral crafts - Kinusaiga - fabric craft on a foam board.

Bring a bottle and a friend (or two).

All materials provided along with templates, guidance and lots of laughs.

🖌️🎨🖼️ This project is our way to celebrate all the things there are to love about Downsway in its 50th anniversary year!

Over the course of a week, Marie from FlyingArt _with_Thatartlady spent an hour with each class encouraging each child (and some staff), to draw something on the theme of ‘what I love about Downsway’. These drawings were taken away and arranged into wonderful collages for each class.

Together they create a lasting record of the memories that the Downsway community have in this special year, that will be displayed in school and enjoyed for years to come.

If you would like a keepsake of your child’s art as part of this special commemorative art project, we have arranged for the collages to be printed on a number of commemorative items - bags, keyrings, coasters and fridge magnets. 🎉🎉We’ve finished our maths homework to reveal that the Golden Summer Fair raised an amazing £2389.70!!!! 🎉🎉

Thank you to everyone who gave their time to help, bought and sold raffle tickets, or came along and had a fun afternoon - without you all, we wouldn’t have had such a great fair or made as much to fund some fabulous things for school! Thank you 💜💚
