This 'little' lady was out in the wind and rain this morning and was picked up by a concerned MOP and brought to me to check. I can find nothing wrong but she weighs nearly a kilo so I suspect may be about to have little ones. P**p check done and nothing out of the ordinary showed up, so back she goes this evening after her MOT!

Quick photo taken of 'Rosie' the strimmer injury as it's not often she is uncurled. Her head wound is healing nicely now but unfortunately when she curls up the wound splits again, so it's taking longer than usual to heal completely but we are getting there.......

Little 'Rosie' - the first of this season's strimmer injuries. Quite a deep wound which has also taken her ear off. Apart from her injuries she is in poor condition, so not sure of the outcome for this one. Wound cleaned, drip fluids, antibiotics and pain relief given.
Please take care when using garden machinery in overgrown areas. It only takes a minute to check there isn't a sleeping hedgehog in there first.
Thank you so much to the distraught lady that landed on my doorstep with Rosie, who had the good sense to pick her up and get her some help after other people were simply ignoring her.

'Eddie' was rescued two weeks ago from a local garden as he was out during the daytime and not looking very well. Weighing 490 gms he had a really bad tummy and a host of internal nasties which needed treating. He has responded to treatment well and will be returned to his garden this evening weighing just short of 800gms!

'Devon' was brought to us after being found to be out during the daytime - not a good sign. Despite being a decent weight he was obviously struggling as he wobbled from side to side because he was so cold. After being tucked up on a heat mat and given replacement fluids he was soon up on his feet and eating. He has a number of internal nasties which need treatment, but is now eating well and gaining weight.

It has been brought to our attention in recent days that an individual has been caught trespassing on private land / property in Out Rawcliffe, claiming to be a staff member of our charity The Lancashire Hedgehog Care Trust. This simply isn't true.
If this person, and we believe we know who she is, misrepresents our charity name again, legal action will be taken against them..

Just to let everyone know who contributed to the care and rehabilitation of little Tommy the Clanger - he has now been released back into the wild into a safe area in Thornton weighing over 800gms. There will be back up provided, food and water left out for him every evening. What a fighter this little hedgehog has been. Thank you to everyone for your support and wonderful comments you left for him when he was first admitted in September of last year in such a terrible state. Stay safe little Tommy, you are now back where you belong but you will be so missed.

Picked up out of the road on Skippool Road this afternoon. How the heavy traffic missed her is a miracle, this is one very lucky hedgehog. 'Skippy' is very poorly, hypothermic, dehydrated and full of fly eggs. Fly eggs removed, warm sub cut fluids given and is now recovering on a heat mat.
