WE NEED YOUR BAUBLES! 🎄❤️

I know, I know… can we at least get Halloween and Bonfire Night out of the way first?! 😂

But this is just a little heads-up because we have a Workshop coming to Calme and, although we already have a big box of baubles, we can NEVER have enough!

So when you eventually venture into the loft, open that Christmas cupboard or find that box under the bed… please think of us before you throw the old ones away.

Any colour. Any style. Mismatched, unloved, no longer matching your Christmas décor — we would love them! 🎄

We’ll be giving old baubles a completely new look and another Christmas rather than sending them to waste.

And if you’re joining the workshop, start saving your own too — you can rework them to match your Christmas décor perfectly. ❤️

As always, when our lovely Calme people help us out, we usually manage to find a little something in return. 😉

So… who’s got a secret stash of baubles they don’t want? 😂🎄

Good morning ❤️

Last night was one of those lovely evenings.
Three ladies came along to our Beginners Sewing Workshop, all wanting something slightly different from their sewing experience.

And yes, we sewed lots and we shared lots. We sorted out machines, figured things out and all three ladies went home having got what they needed from the sewing side of things.

But actually, that wasn’t the best bit.
We laughed. We talked. We exchanged stories and little bits of our lives. We got to know each other. We connected.

And Vik (with a k) and I went home feeling very, very contented.
Sometimes the high five at the end of a workshop isn’t about what you’ve made or what you’ve achieved. Sometimes it’s simply about how you feel when you leave.
And last night felt lovely. ❤️
I also think the very best evenings are often the ones where we forget to take photographs 😂 Because we’ve been far too busy being present, talking, laughing and enjoying the people in front of us to remember to pick up our phones.

So there isn’t a beautiful reel of last night. There isn’t a carefully staged photograph.

There are just three ladies who know who they are, and a very big thank you from Vik and me.

We absolutely loved having you with us. I really hope we see you again, because you are definitely our people. ❤️

And that, for me, is what Calme has always been about.

Connection. Community. Creativity.

And just a little sewing PS… 🧵

If you haven’t touched a sewing machine for so long that you’ve forgotten where to start — or you’ve never touched one at all but have always fancied having a go - talk to us.

We have lovely brand-new sewing machines here at Calme just waiting to be used, and we’d love to help you get started.

We can also arrange one-to-one sewing sessions if there’s something particular you’d like to learn — perhaps zips, getting to know your own machine, or simply building enough confidence to have a go on your own.

Just drop us a message and tell us what you’d like to learn. ❤️

And if you’d rather chat on WhatsApp, just comment WHATSAPP below and I’ll privately send you my number.

Have a lovely Wednesday everyone xx

🎨 NEW WORKSHOP ALERT — BUT THIS ONE’S A LITTLE DIFFERENT… it’s Art SCHOOL 🏫

No worrying about outcomes.
No worrying whether yours looks like the person’s next to you.
And absolutely no “I’m not artistic enough” allowed. 😂❤️

This is A Taste of Art with Jackie — a small, intimate evening where you can completely let go, have a play and learn as you go.

Jackie will introduce you to different art skills and techniques, helping you understand what you can do with them — and then encouraging you to find what you enjoy.

Come on your own. Come with a friend. Come if you haven’t picked up a paintbrush since school.

Ask questions. Try things. Get it wrong. Try something else. Have a brew. Chat. Laugh. Learn a little. And perhaps surprise yourself. 🎨

And because we’re deliberately keeping this one small and intimate, it’s just Jackie and you lovely lot — plenty of time for help, encouragement and those little “oooh, how did you do that?” moments.

You might even make a new friend while you’re at it. ❤️

🎨 A Taste of Art with Jackie
📅 Tuesday 10th November
⏰ 6pm–8pm
💷 £19 per person
☕ Tea & coffee included — cakes available

Daytime dates coming soon so drop me a DAYTIME below if that works for you. 🙏🏼 Caroline x

No ongoing commitment. It’s simply a chance to come through the door, meet Jackie, try something new and see where a little creativity might take you.

Come and go. Learn as you go. Completely let go. 💕

🎄❤️ CHRISTMAS AFTERNOON TEA AT CALME NEST ❤️🎄

Christmas at Calme Nest has always had a very special place in my heart.

We’ve held these afternoons before and, every year, we learn a little more, add a little more and somehow love them even more.

Because it’s never really just about the afternoon tea.

It’s the brightly lit Christmas tree. The old Christmas songs playing in the background. Crackers on the tables. Ridiculous paper crowns that somehow end up over one eye. 😂

It’s people chatting, laughing and forgetting everything else for a couple of hours.

And yes… there’ll be food. Plenty of it. 😂❤️

A lovely traditional Christmas Afternoon Tea with festive sandwiches, savouries, scones with clotted cream and jam, mince pies, Christmas cake and a few extra Christmassy treats.

There’ll be regular tea and some lovely festive tea blends, plus a glass of non-alcoholic fizz to get us feeling suitably Christmassy. 🥂✨ And if you fancy something a little stronger, feel free to bring your own alcohol along too. ❤️

But more than anything, we want you to leave feeling like you’ve had a proper little slice of Christmas.

Warm. Full. Happy. Festive. ❤️

🎄 Sunday 6th December
⏰ 2pm–4pm
❤️ £29 per person

We sold out all three of our Christmas Afternoon Teas last year, but this year we’re doing just ONE.

Not because we’ve gone all baaah humbug 😂 — quite the opposite! We’ve got so much other festive fun planned that this is going to be our one big Christmas Afternoon Tea for 2026.

So we’re going to make it a beauty. 🎄✨

Vegetarian alternatives are available and please tell us about allergies or dietary requirements when booking.

Come hungry. Come festive. Come ready for Christmas at the Nest. 🎄❤️

THIS THURSDAY AT CALME NEST — AND JUST LOOK WHO’S COMING TO TEACH US! ✨

If you’ve ever been curious about crystals, bought one simply because you were drawn to it, been given one as a gift, or wondered what on earth people mean when they talk about choosing, cleansing or working with crystals… this is for you. 💎

And goodness me, have we got the right person to introduce you to them.

Jacqueline Winters founded the British Academy of Crystal Healing in 2004 and has spent more than two decades studying, teaching and sharing her knowledge.

She has written a two-year Therapist Diploma in the Art of Crystal Healing, is an author, has appeared on radio in the UK and USA and has presented workshops in Athens, America and UK colleges and universities.

And this Thursday she’s coming to little old Calme Nest at Marsh Mill. ❤️

So what will you actually learn?

✨ What crystals are and why we can feel drawn to particular stones
✨ Some of the most popular crystals and their traditional meanings
✨ How to begin choosing crystals for yourself
✨ Simple ways people work with crystals in everyday life
✨ How to cleanse, care for and store them
✨ How crystals may be incorporated into meditation, intention and personal wellbeing
✨ And, perhaps most importantly, you’ll be able to ask questions and learn directly from Jackie’s extraordinary experience

You don’t need to own a crystal.
You don’t need to know the terminology.
And you certainly don’t need to come believing anything.

Just come curious.

We’ll put the kettle on, you can handle some beautiful crystals, ask all those questions you’ve perhaps felt a bit daft asking before 😂 and spend a fascinating couple of hours discovering a subject people have been drawn to for generations.

Small, relaxed and informal — very Calme. ☕️✨

Introduction to Crystals with Jacqueline Winters
📍 Calme Nest, Marsh Mill
📅 This Thursday

Maybe it’ll simply be a lovely evening.

Or maybe you’ll leave having discovered a whole new interest. 💎✨

🪵 Ron’s bringing his beautiful heart back to Calme Nest on FRIDAY 6th November ❤️

This is one of those workshops that really does encapsulate everything we want you to experience at Calme.

Arts and crafts alongside a cup of tea or coffee. Making friends. Chatting. Concentrating just enough to switch off from everything else for a while… but still having time to laugh, talk and just be.

And then there’s the wood itself. 🪵

Watching it slowly come to life in your hands, taking shape and becoming something beautiful and tactile that you’ll want to hold onto forever.

And perhaps the loveliest bit — knowing you made it.

You’ve learnt a skill that has been passed down through generations, one of those wonderful traditional crafts that could so easily be forgotten if we don’t keep sharing, retaining and reviving them.

And Ron really is the loveliest person to learn from. Calm, soothing, incredibly knowledgeable and quite simply someone who loves his craft. ❤️

He always brings some of his own whittled pieces along too, just for you to admire or buy if something catches your eye — never any pressure, just another lovely part of the evening.

So come and whittle and while away a couple of hours with us.

A piece of wood, a cup of tea, good company and something beautiful to take home at the end of it.

That’s rather what Calme is all about. ❤️

Good morning. So obviously arts and crafts are not just for the grown ups. I have spent the last couple of days with my beautiful granddaughters who love all things creative. Their favourite room in my home is the garage - stacked high with boxes of crafts and paper and pens and glitter and glue. I was having a conversation with Phil yesterday but couldn’t stay serious as his face kept sparkling bits of vibrant blue glitter 🤪.
Yesterdays final go to was the Lego box - It kept all four of us happy and together for hours. I personally think that we should have an adult Lego workshop lol

What was your favourite hobby or pastime as a child and when was the last time you connected with it or something similar?

Right, Monday question for you… ❤️

What’s something you keep saying “I’d love to learn how to do that” about… but still haven’t actually done? 😂

Could be something crafty, something completely random, or something that’s been sitting on your one day I’ll do that list for about 20 years!

Come on then… what’s yours? 👇

Good morning ❤️

Monday again… how did that happen? 😂

I’m starting mine with a cuppa, a little potter about and a look at what we’ve got coming up at Calme.

After the weekend we’ve just had, I don’t even care what colour the sky is this morning — the 80mph winds have gone and that will absolutely do me! 😂

There are some lovely workshops still to come, lots of gorgeous little gifts appearing online and pieces from our local artists too — so if you’ve not had a nosy for a while, today might be a nice day for one. 🥰

But first… tea. Always tea. ☕️

Whatever your Monday looks like, I hope there’s something lovely tucked into it somewhere.

Have a good one ❤️
