📅 Community Catch up Swadlincote 📅

06/03/2026

A dispersal order has been put in place for Swadlincote town centre following increased reports of anti-social behaviour.

The Section 34 notice began at 18:30 hours on Friday 6th March 2026 and will remain in place until 18:30 hours on Sunday 8th March 2026. Please see the map below, the area highlighted in red is the area covered by the dispersal order.

Over the last few days, we have seen an increase in ASB and calls for service with large groups of youths hanging around on High Street, Swadlincote. This behaviour is having a negative impact on local businesses and the community.

In order to proactively tackle any anti-social behaviour, SNT have increased the amount of high visibility patrols on the High Street.

We have implemented a section 34 Dispersal order for the following areas this weekend as a preventative measure to minimise any issues.
The power allows officers to disperse anyone for up to 48 hours who
• Causes harassment, alarm, or distress to the public, or
• Contribute to crime, disorder, or anti-social behaviour.
Removing any under 16’s from the area to a place of safety. Fail to disperse following a request from officers carries a power of arrest.
** Parents – SNT would like to direct appeal to yourselves to ensure you know the whereabouts of your children and where they intend to go **

| Appeal for video footage launched following series of attempted burglaries in Swadlincote

We are appealing for members of the public to come forward with CCTV or doorbell camera footage following a series of attempted burglaries in Swadlincote.

So far seven offences have been identified as taking place in Old Railway Mews, Church Street, Hamilton Drive and Nursery Close between 1am and 4am on Friday 6 February.

We believe this was a lone man or boy who was trying the door handles of houses, garages and vehicles.

Officers have made extensive enquiries into the series of incidents and we are now turning to the public for assistance.

We would like everyone living in the area contained within the map to please check your CCTV and doorbell cameras for footage between 1am and 4am on Friday 6 February.

Local PCSO'S have seen an increase in vehicles being parked on ZigZags outside of schools, we understand that pick-up and drop-off times outside schools are busy and that it can be challenging to park but parking restrictions outside schools are there to keep you and your children safe. Parking inconsiderately can put people in danger and you also risk points on your licence or being fined.

🚫 What the law says (UK)
• You must not stop, wait, or park on the yellow zig-zag lines by pedestrian crossings or school entrances.
• These markings are there to keep visibility clear for children and drivers.

💸 Penalties
• £70 Penalty Charge Notice
o 3 penalty points

We have had reports of possible bogus callers visiting properties in Midway stating they are from Derbyshire Council. These individuals may attempt to gain access to properties or obtain personal information under false pretences.

We urge all tenants and residents to remain vigilant:
• Always ask for official identification from anyone claiming to represent the Council.
• Do not allow anyone into your home unless you are certain of their identity.
• If in doubt, close the door and contact the Council directly to verify whether a visit has been arranged.
• Report any suspicious activity immediately to the Council and, if you feel threatened or unsafe, contact the police.

Your safety and peace of mind is our top priority. Please help us spread the word and look out for neighbours, especially those who may be more vulnerable.

For verification or to report concerns, contact South Derbyshire District Council on 01283 595795 or email [email protected]
