Our Private Mentoring Service provides children and young people with a safe, supportive space to talk, build confidence and work through the challenges they may be facing.

Our mentors can support with things such as:
- Anxiety
- Low confidence and self-esteem
- Friendship difficulties
- Family changes and challenges
- Emotional wellbeing
- Building positive coping strategies

We’re helping people to access The Crisis and Resilience Fund across Dudley and Sutton Coldfield alongside providing benefits and housing advice.

Dudley Council is working with local organisations and community partners to support residents experiencing financial difficulties through the Crisis and Resilience Fund (CRF).

The fund is designed to help people facing an unexpected financial crisis while also connecting them with advice and support to improve their long-term financial resilience.

Support is tailored to individual circumstances and may include practical assistance, essential household items, specialist advice, and access to wider support services.

Are you looking to gain a recognised qualification in mentoring?

We've got two upcoming opportunities to complete our accredited Level 3 Award in Mentoring Practice, with different delivery options to fit around your work and other commitments.

Our Level 3 course is suitable for people who are new to mentoring as well as those already working in mentoring roles who want to build on their experience and gain a formal qualification.

The course covers mentoring skills, communication, safeguarding, boundaries, goal setting and how to plan and deliver mentoring support that responds to individual needs.

We draw on our own experience of delivering mentoring services at Our Place, using practical examples and opportunities for discussion throughout the training.

📢 Upcoming courses

📅 November–December 2026
Three full online training days – 11th November, 25th November and 9th December.

📅 January–March 2027
Seven online morning sessions, starting 20th January.

Both courses include guided learning and independent study towards the Level 3 Award in Mentoring Practice.

We had a great morning last week delivering our CPD Approved Introduction to Mentoring course, with some really good conversations and learning shared throughout the session.

It's always lovely to bring people together who are interested in mentoring, whether they're just starting out or already supporting others and looking to develop their skills.

We've now scheduled another course for January 2027.

Our Introduction to Mentoring course is a practical four-hour session covering the key skills and knowledge needed to build positive and effective mentoring relationships. It's suitable for anyone supporting adults, children or young people, across a wide range of roles and settings.

Our fortnightly Coffee Session isn't really about the cuppa!

It’s a friendly, welcoming space to meet others, make new friends, enjoy different activities and speakers, and know there are familiar staff and volunteers around if you need a bit of support too.

Over the past year, 42 people have been supported through 25 coffee sessions and people often tell us how much they value having somewhere local where they feel comfortable and listened to.

Sometimes the biggest difference is simply having somewhere you look forward to coming back to.
