Trying to eat on our own for the first time!

One of our mums has had a nasty urinary infection and was not able to feed her 6 hoglets. She has been amazing. We are doing the feeding for her and she is doing the rest.
After finding her in a different bed to her babies last week we realised there was an issue and she had no milk.
For the last week we have been feeding two hourly and mum has been cuddling them in between.

It’s hot and only getting hotter! You can help local hedgehogs in this weather by leaving out shallow water sources like our volunteer Wendy has done in her garden here.

For deep sources such as ponds make sure to have a ramp or plenty of ways for hedgehogs to climb out if they pop by for a drink. 🦔 💧

We weigh the hedgehogs every day to check their health and then pop them in a holding box whilst we clean their box and give them clean bedding. Today there was 'something in the air' it seemed as if the majority were trying to climb out!
This smaller one was the most persistent. Despite his little legs. Look our agile he is!

We weigh the hedgehogs every day to check their health and then pop them in a holding box whilst we clean their box and give them fresh bedding. Today there was 'something in the air' it seemed, as the majority were trying to climb out of their holding boxes!

This smaller one was the most persistent despite his little legs. Look at how agile he is!

Once mum is calm and trusting us we are able to quickly weigh her babies so that we can ensure they’re gaining weight nicely. Mum has her work cut out with this wriggly bunch!

Tomorrow (Saturday) we have a fundraising stall at Brandon. Weather forecast is good so why not visit us there.
