To all residents and users of the village hall and playing field.

Some will know, at a cycle speedway event in July, fireworks were set off. This is against the terms of use of the village hall and playing field. It is also not allowed under the terms of our insurance policy. To make matters worst it was carried out with residents walking dogs (some were very scared and one bolted) during the height of the drought and against any guidance from Suffolk Fire Brigade.
The committee had to uphold the values of the hall and field so immediately banned the Cycle Speedway from using it, pending an investigation.
The outcome was more stringent processes in place for the cycle speedway club.
We have been assured that the events will never occur again.

Below is an apology from the perpetrator.

—————————————————————————————-

Dear Chairman & the Residents of the Great Blakenham Village
I am writing to sincerely apologise for setting off some fireworks at the Cycle Speedway Ladies event last month in the public area around the playing field and local housing, I apologise for the upset and disturbance this caused to local residents. I appreciate that the noise and activity were disruptive, particularly in a residential area, and I understand why people were unhappy. Looking back, I recognise that it was inconsiderate of me to use fireworks there, and I take responsibility for my actions. I am genuinely sorry for disturbing the local community. I will make sure that this does not happen again and will be more considerate of the people living nearby and of the appropriate places and circumstances for activities such as this. Please accept my sincere apologies for the inconvenience and distress I caused.
Yours sincerely, Jason Ashford
