Manchester Fashion Movement is delighted to be returning to The Good Clothes Show this year.

After the success of last year’s debut event, The Good Clothes Show returns to Manchester Central on 7th & 8th November for another inspiring weekend celebrating style with purpose.

Expect even more good clothes, great style, and two days packed with opportunities to discover independent brands, hear from leading voices in conscious fashion, experience the Good Catwalk, join workshops, enjoy styling sessions, and so much more.

We’re proud to be part of what is fast becoming an annual must-visit event for Manchester’s fashion community. Save the date – you won’t want to miss it.

Insightful morning at discussing the work undertaken by researchers from the Robotics Living Lab (RoLL) to understand the current use of automation and robotics in the UK Fashion and Textiles Industry.

We discussed recommendations such as, key barriers, how using an automation tool can free up time to do the things designers and makers love, use of language, cost implications, long term benefits and of course accessibility for small to medium sized brands.

Implementing collaborative robotics has the potential to drive sustainability, net zero manufacturing and a reshoring agenda.

Thank you Joe and Niamh and Susan Postlethwaite for bringing us all together.

I’d love to see these tools offered in a shared space (micro factory) so all independent brands have access to automation, training and technicians. I look forward to reading more on this.

It’s Contact Hostel’s first ever involvement in “The Big Give” campaign and they have just launched today! The team at Contact Hostel would really appreciate if we could like, share or even help while it’s running for the rest of this week.
They have a £5000 fundraising target to hit by Sunday evening, which will be match funded if they raise this amount, so let’s help them get there. All shares, likes and donations, no matter how big or small would be massively appreciated to help the teenage girls facing homelessness that support. If anyone would like any more info or would like to get involved in some fundraising this week, please don’t hesitate to contact Victoria at Contact Hostel.

Here we showcase REALISATION:
This stage of the catwalk tells the story of
an quiet awakening, a shift, one where we become aware of our isolation and begin to reconnect — featuring garments that invite physical interaction with the outdoors and world around us. A shift from grey to green, from tension to breath.

Thank you Mehran and Saeed for my invitation to Youth Leads UK Trailblazing Youth Celebration yesterday
It was a beautiful way to spend a Sunday afternoon hearing first hand how your organisation is helping young people. I was honoured to be there to celebrate the achievements of young people who have completed your Leadership Programmes through dedication and commitment to self development. Huge shout out to Annie and Lawrence who I’ve had the privilege to work with at our Horti-CULTURED event at RHS Gardens Bridgewater. Both got stuck in to the roles they were assigned and were valued members of the team. I have no doubt you have thriving futures ahead and I’m very much looking forward to working with you again.

Thank you to Richard and Georgie for making this introduction and opening up the opportunity for MFM to work with Youth Leads.

If any of our MFM network know any young people who would benefit from joining the Leadership Programme be sure to tell them to get in touch with Mehran at Youth Leads. They will be so glad they did.

Beth has been a beautiful supporter of MFM events over the last few years and truly understands what we are trying to achieve through story telling.

Beth Kerr (b.lo) is a Manchester based DJ who moves fluidly between club spaces and community events, like Horti-CULTURED. Blending textures with bold rhythms, she cultivates landscapes that connect people to sound, space, and each other.
Over the past year, she’s taken part in the Urban Growers programme at Platt Fields Market Garden, deepening her connection to land and sustainable growing.
Through Horti-CULTURED, she’s found the perfect platform to bring together the story telling power of music and the natural world. She’s also about to launch her new project, hear-in’, a hearing loss awareness charity championing care and conscious listening in the music industry after she was diagnosed with moderate hearing loss last year.

Come and listen to Beth tell our fashion story “ROOTED” through music today .co
