Recyke-a-bike

Recyke-a-bike People into work. Bikes into the community. Recyke-a-bike aims to help more people into work and get more people in the community cycling.

We provide training and work placements at our bicycle recycling centre, where we recondition unwanted bikes to REVOLVE accredited standard for resale at affordable prices. We also provide a variety of outreach services from Bikeability training in schools to Dr Bike and cycle commuting skills. We are the local Cycle Friendly Employer service centre and can help organisations achieve their award.

We work with a range of partners and are open to new projects and partnerships that fit with our aims of employability, environmental protection and healthy lifestyles.

We'll be closed tomorrow to give our staff a well deserved day off, reopening on Tuesday at 9am. Thanks for your support...

Today is the last day of Bike Week!

Today's myth is that second-hand bikes aren't as good as new. Absolutely not true! We often get bikes donated to us that come out of our shop with better parts on than they would have had on the production line. If we can make the bike run smoother and be lighter and more agile we will do!

We hope you've enjoyed busting some cycling related myths with us! Maybe the posts have got you inspired to pull out your bike and go for a pedal? And if you don't have a bike do take a look at our Bike Library online to review our affordable hires or pop into the shop to purchase your next shiny, fully serviced and warrantied bike!

It's Bike Week!

Today's myth is that some people are too old to ride a bike!

Now a standard two wheeled bike might be tricky for some folk and we absolutely appreciate that, but there are options available, like some of the trikes and cargo bikes in our Bike Library and adapted fleet or our amazing Van Raam Fun2Go side by side bike. This bike has benefitted so many people!

Lots of community organisations and cycling charities will have a fleet of adapted bikes available for people to use. If you or someone you know would love to feel the wind in their hair as they leisurely pedal away then please do get in touch re. borrowing our adapted bikes.

Summer kids lessons are back! Held at Beechwood Park in Stirling, our private lessons run for 30 minutes.

We recommend you book at least two lessons for your child and ideally have some practice time in between, so they can work on the skills they were taught in their lesson.

We can provide bikes and helmets for any kiddos who need to borrow them.

It's Bike Week!

Today's myth is that maintaining a bike is too expensive. Again not true! Lots of organisations like us host free repairs sessions via their Dr Bike service - we offer them at least once a week! We also have classes that folk can attend (watch this space for future classes!) so that you can learn how to maintain your own bike - again this is something lots of cycling charities do.

We would hope that the repairs and servicing service that we provide in the shop offers good value to customers.

Owning a bike doesn't need to be expensive, it's amazing what you can pick up even on YouTube!

It's Bike Week!

Today's myth is that using an E-bike is cheating! Now, we're not talking about the ones that are popping up with a throttle, whereby you don't need to pedal - that is cheating (and also illegal!). We are talking about the e-bikes that stick to the regulations outlined by the EU, where the motor will only kick in if you're actually pedalling and won't assist you after 15.5 mph.

If utilising a compliant E-bike gets anyone out of the house and to the shops, for a jaunt down a cycle path or to work then we say go for it! And remember Recyke-a-bike can now service most e-bikes too!

It's Bike Week!

Today's myth is that cycling doesn't make a big difference to the environment and sustainability. Well, that's a big lie! Even buying a new bike is much better for CO2 than a car, but if you're looking to really support the planet then a second-hand bike means that carbon is not being created when the bike is being made. Support the planet and cycle!
