Leisurely walking group

Sun, wind and rain on our walk today but luckily we missed most of the rain by running into the Wave cafe at the Arches. After reading the menu we decided we might swap the coffee for a lunch next time we do that walk. Enjoyed the walk and the company. Thanks ladies.

Hylands House flower show

An enjoyable day was had at Hylands today by a small group of us from the gardening club. Wonderful listening to Adam Frost talk about his life and garden development strategies was fascinating. Such beautiful plants and garden paraphernalia to purchase (thankfully I didn't spend too much ) and the weather was kind to us.

Strand Wharf Planters

LoveLeigh Ladies gardening group has taken on the maintenance of 2 planters on Strand Wharf in Old Leigh.

Today a small team of us cleared rubbish (bottles, cutlery, glasses!!!), pruned and dug out some existing plants, added a couple of new ones and generally tidied the area. Great work Tricia Presland , Penny & Lesley. Thank you for your help.

The LoveLeigh Ladies enjoyed a guided tour of the bluebells in Hadleigh Great Wood.

We set off on a walk from The Essex Wildlife Centre in Belfairs Park to view the bluebells and then returned for a cream tea in the cafe.

We try to organise a few trips like this throughout the year and they are alway very popular with our members.

This afternoon we celebrated our first birthday at our AGM.

A really well attended and fun meeting with an interesting speech by The Mayor of Southend and some lovely donated cakes and a glass of fizz for everyone 🍾🥂

We invited the committee of another Leigh on Sea WI, The Broadway Belles, as our guests to thank them for the invaluable support they have given us over the past year.

We now have 85 members and since last April have set up 20 sub groups covering all sorts of special interests and arranged a number of day trips to various places.

It's been hard work but seeing everyone there today enjoying themselves made it all worthwhile.

Our committee have all agreed to stay in post and our members voted in favour of that too.

The LoveLeigh Ladies Gardening club met today

Our Treasurer Kirstin gave us this update on how the group is going.

"There is a wealth of knowledge regarding anything gardening related from these lovely ladies (and bees, thanks Ann). Such a great mixture of conversation about plants, tools, pruning, cutting and even vegetables. I learn a lot every time we get together"
