Southend SEND Independent Forum (SSIF) and the SEND Local Offer Team are thrilled to invite you to our 2nd Southend SEND Information Day!

Whether you’re a parent carer or a professional, this is the place to be on 16 June. We’re bringing together local support services, expert teams, and a lineup of informative talks, all under one roof.

We know how vital it is to have clear, accessible information. That’s why we’ve organised a packed day full of:
• Direct access to local support services.
• Informative talks on key topics.
• A space to connect with other parent carers and professionals.

Seeking the views of children and young people (CYP) aged 11 to 25 with SEND, parents and carers of CYP aged 0 to 25 with SEND, and practitioners who work with CYP with SEND in education, health or care services.

Southend-on-Sea City Council and NHS Essex Integrated Care Board received notification (1 June 2026) that Ofsted and the Care Quality Commission (CQC) will conduct an inspection of local area arrangements for children and young people with special educational needs and/or disabilities (SEND) from 15 June 2026 to 19 June 2026.

Southend-on-Sea City Council and NHS Essex Integrated Care Board received notification today (1 June 2026) that Ofsted and the Care Quality Commission (CQC) will conduct an inspection of local area arrangements for children and young people with special educational needs and/or disabilities (SEND) from 15 June 2026 to 19 June 2026.

As part of this inspection, inspectors are seeking the views of children and young people (CYP) aged 11 to 25 with SEND, parents and carers of CYP aged 0 to 25 with SEND, and practitioners who work with CYP with SEND in education, health or care services.

Are you a 18-30 year old seeking employment and want to kick start your Career in the Health Care Sector then check out this programme starting in November! see full details below⬇️

The Step-Forward Programme is a fully funded, flexible 4–6 weeks employment initiative designed to help unemployed young adults in our area develop the skills and expertise needed to secure local healthcare roles.

Healthcare roles may be clinical, administrative, in estates and facilities or in other related areas.

Enable East will hold two in-person workshops at Westcliff Library on Monday 17th and Tuesday 18th November, at 10am - 1.30pm. The content covered in the workshops includes: Core Skills Development, Healthcare Training and Employability Skills. Following the workshops learners will receive further personalised support on their employment journey.

This course is aimed specifically at young adults (18-30 years) from Southend and Basildon, who are unemployed or working a zero hours contract.

Families are reminded that there are more sixth form and college open evenings coming up.

It’s important to find out what is available in the local area and consider options in advance. Young people from years 9 to 11 are encouraged to attend and plan early.

For young people with EHCPs, it is especially important to plan ahead to ensure a smooth transition to post-16 education. We’ve highlighted important dates and actions for you.
