Southend YMCA is the leading local charity for children and young people, offering supported housing for homeless individuals aged 18–25, alongside youth groups, education, training, music programmes and more – all in the heart of Southend. We work in Southend, Thurrock, other parts of Essex and the Thames Gateway supporting some of the most vulnerable and disadvantaged young people. No child or y

oung person should have to face life's difficulties alone and we support a wide range of young people some of whom may be experiencing extremely traumatic challenges such as homelessness, domestic violence, abuse, poverty, unemployment or mental health problems. We have been operating for the past 20 years and have worked with tens of thousands of young people helping them to become happy, fulfilled adults who can belong, contribute and thrive in society. Southend YMCA is an independent Southend based charity that is affiliated to the national and global YMCA movement, supporting children and young people.

What an incredible evening yesterday celebrating the heart of Southend YMCA - our amazing volunteers!

Last Friday, Southend YMCA was pleased to attend the Community Funding Fair hosted by Bayo Alaba MP in partnership with SAVS at Belle Vue Baptist Church.

It was a valuable opportunity to connect with a range of funding organisations, learn about current and future funding opportunities, and share the work we do to support young people and our local community across Southend.

Thank you to everyone involved in organising the event and to the funders who took the time to meet with local charities and community groups. Events like these are vital in helping organisations build sustainable services that make a real difference.

We look forward to exploring new opportunities and continuing our work to support those who need us most.

We’re excited to introduce The Launch Pad – a new weekday drop-in space at our Newlands centre supporting young people to take their next steps.

🗓 Monday–Thursday | ⏰ 11am–3pm
👥 Ages 16–18 (up to 25 with SEND)

From CV writing and job applications to college pathways, revision support and creative activities, it’s a safe, relaxed space to build confidence and explore future opportunities.
