Southend YMCA is the leading local charity for children and young people, offering supported housing for homeless individuals aged 18–25, alongside youth groups, education, training, music programmes and more – all in the heart of Southend. We work in Southend, Thurrock, other parts of Essex and the Thames Gateway supporting some of the most vulnerable and disadvantaged young people. No child or young person should have to face life's difficulties alone and we support a wide range of young people some of whom may be experiencing extremely traumatic challenges such as homelessness, domestic violence, abuse, poverty, unemployment or mental health problems. We have been operating for the past 20 years and have worked with tens of thousands of young people helping them to become happy, fulfilled adults who can belong, contribute and thrive in society. Southend YMCA is an independent Southend based charity that is affiliated to the national and global YMCA movement, supporting children and young people.

💚 Turning lost property into lasting impact!

We are incredibly grateful to our amazing friends at AJ Chambers and c2c Rail for their continued support 💚

Yesterday, the fantastic team from AJ Chambers rolled up their sleeves to sort, organise and upload clothing donations from c2c’s lost property to our online Vinted store. Every item listed is another opportunity to give pre-loved clothing a second life while raising vital funds to support the work we do at Southend YMCA.

Every year, huge amounts of clothing go to waste, despite still having plenty of life left in them. By choosing to reuse, resell and recycle, we can help reduce textile waste, keep perfectly wearable clothes out of landfill and make a positive difference to both people and our planet. 🌍

What might otherwise be forgotten lost property can become something meaningful: less waste, more sustainable choices and essential funds to support our local community.

💙 A huge THANK YOU to Tesco and all their wonderful customers! 💙

We were delighted to receive an amazing £1,000 for Southend YMCA through the Tesco Blue Token Scheme! 🎉

This generous funding supported our Nourish & Flourish project, providing everyday essentials for the young residents living at Newlands Supported Housing.
Your votes made a real difference and helped us support young people to feel safe, supported and able to flourish.
