A great night of fire skills at Huish Woods learning how to prepare kindling and feather sticks, lay and light a fire to cook popcorn in billy cans. Great work girls!

Lovely to see 1st Martock Guides alongside 1st Crewkerne Guides with Penelope Keith filming To the Manor Born

In memory of Penelope Keith.

The photo is from the centenary book Something for the Girls. It was taken around 1981 at Merriott Hall and shows Penelope Keith who died yesterday and Angela Thorne surrounded by Guides who were extras in the tv show 'To the Manor born'. The pale blue ties are 1st Crewkerne Guides. The Guiders chatting in the door are Margaret Spencer, Mary Starr, Freda Gifford and Dot Sainsbury. UPDATE Tatworth and Martock Guides also in attendance.
