There was lots of communication happening at Friday's HEC session, including this small sample:
😍 Working together to build a marble run with the Makedo kit, adjusting the angles of the cardboard tubes and improving the design so the marble went into the cup
😍 Describing the vehicles the kids had made with magnetic shapes, telling me the different features, doubling 3 because there are 3 wheels on each side, learning to use vocabulary like "streamlined" and "air resistance"
😍 Making film canister rockets and testing different amounts of water to see what ratio of air to water makes the rocket go highest, reading written instructions and using fractions like thirds
😍 I didn't even get pictures of the rounders game, the maths puzzles, or the cool cardboard outfit and accessories that were made, or the tea party food that was laid out so beautifully as part of a game!
Learning through doing is normal at HEC.
There are also lots of opportunities to improve our skills at dealing with conflict, and we aim to use circle time to agree on HEC rules collaboratively and talk through any issues.
